For those wanting a balanced, immersive alternative to the rest mechanic but find survival mods to be too extreme.

This is just a little mod I've been using for my own playthroughs, but I decided to share it. It's easy to abuse the resting mechanic for easy-to-gain health, especially while fighting next to a door where you may leave to safety -- thus I suggest you search for a rest-disabling mod to go along with this mod. The item it adds will provide a suitable replacement.
The Sleep Cot
- A miscellaneous item. Loosely based on an older mod, Wait and Sleep - Cot Version that shares some of the same scripts which I've made changes to.
- With Wares Ultimate, you may buy one from most general traders across Tamriel; Mainland, Cyrodiil, Wisconsin.
- Picking it up for the first time prompts a tutorial-style message. To use it for rest, drop it on the ground and activate it.
- Prompts a menu to rest like normal, no other benefits. Other options are to dispose of it or close the menu.
Notes
- Using the cot to rest lowers it's condition -- if at 0, it will be unusable and you can only dispose of it.
- You cannot use it while it's in your inventory, nor can you pick it back up once you've placed it down. Think of the sleep cot as a consumable in which you use to create a bonfire-like safezone that you make return trips to (bonfire not included).
- Resting in near towns is illegal, being seen resting will count as trespassing and get you a bounty.
