About this mod

A texture pack that replaces the entirety of Morrowind's textures with 2-4x upscales in a watercolor style. All textures include normals, some include parallax, designed for Wareya's PBR. Also include a fixed DOF shader based on the Kurahawa effect that provides a painterly blur in the distance,

Morrowind Watercolor Textures (ALPHA)

This is a first draft of replacing the entirety of Morrowinds textures with upscaled version that have a watercolor effect applied. I was interested in trying to use depth models to generate parallax and normals for textures and it quickly spiraled into something else entirely. Most land and building textures in this have parallax maps. Everything has a normal map. This was designed with Wareya's PBR in mind and a lot of textures include AO maps and roughness maps that are meant to provide a consistent high roughness paint look. In the future I'll add more variation to the Smoothness and Metallicity portions of the PBR. If you want to run this without Wareya's PBR just search for _spec and _diffusespec and delete every file.

Alpha Issues:
I highly recommend using this alongside Mackom's heads, as right now the placeholder textures for vanilla heads are a bit of a mess. I'll make replacers for Mackom's down the line if I can get them to look good. I'm in the process of replacing the vanilla ones with better ones and I'll try to update that shortly. It's also worth noting that for some reason the process I used to upscale resulted in weird magenta and green artefacts on a lot of textures. I've figured out how to avoid this and I'll slowly go through and redo the worst offenders.

Another major issue is that OpenMW uses a different texture format for landscape and object textures, and I'm not sure if certain textures are only ever loaded as one or the other, so for textures that seem like they could be landscape textures I have both a spec and diffusespec, wasting a bit of storage space.

Once I've done some cleaning up of this base game texture set I'll start working on specifically TR content from TR data and then eventually PTR content as well.

Fixed Kuwahara DOF

This effect applies a painterly shader to things in the distance. It's built from Vtastek's cinematic bokeh DOF, and Epoch's port of Oilify by Lord of Lunacy. It works fine on my end but I haven't checked it with different resolutions etc. In the screenshots I'm also using a modified version of MWToon to give edges in the distance a bit more definition. In terms of shader order I recommend the Kuwahara after SSAO but before any clouds or fog shaders, I think the effect looks a bit too aggressive on the fog and having it behind it masks it better, but obviously tastes may very.

Other Mod Recommendations:

There's no groundcover replacer included in this, but I find it matches very well with Fantasia. The shader setup I have in all my screenshots relies heavily on my Analog Film Shaders.
