Adaption of the feature from Dwemer Lightning Rods by Melchior Dahrk, lightning strikes will randomly hit the lightning rods at Dwemer ruins. Uses dynamic spawned VFX, so no need for replacement of existing game objects, or for alterations to your save file. Should be compatible with most Dwemer ruin mods, including the original Lightning Rods mod.
Settings page options allow you to choose when the effect is visible, and how frequent the strikes are. These work in the same way as the lightning options for the Red Mountain distant VFX feature detailed below. The option to only be visible during storms requires weather tracking support, see at the bottom of the post for details.
Red Mountain Distant Smoke and Lightning
Distant blight cloud and lightning strikes can be seen over Red Mountain, visible up to your viewing distance setting. The blight effect is still a bit experimental, so please report any glitches or unexpected FPS loss. The Mod settings page has options to disable either the smoke cloud or the circling wind effects.
Customization options for lightning strikes allow you to choose when this effect is visible : during night time and in thunderstorms / ash storms / blight storms, in storms only, or never (disabled). You can also alter the frequency of the lightning strikes.
The weather dependent options require support for weather tracking, see below for details.
Dynamic Lantern Moths
A new additional feature. Flying moths are added as an effect around lanterns during night hours in exterior cells. They will also disappear during bad weather, if support for weather tracking is available, see below for details.
The settings page provides options to disable this effect completely, or adjust their frequency by a % chance of them spawning. A performance option also allows you to change the LOD distance of the moths to a higher number. This makes them visible at a longer distance, but may have a performance hit depending on your system and mod list.
This is an OpenMW lua script based adaption of the original mod Nocturnal Moths by R-Zero. Thanks to R-Zero for allowing usage of the animated moth model as a free to use resource.
Weather tracking support : This requires the OpenMW lua helper utility version 0.55 to be installed. Note that if you only need the lua helper utility for the weather tracking support, and are not using Voices of Vvardenfell, then enabling the bundled dialogue ESP will not be necessary.
Starting with version 1.16a, checks are done in interior cells to try to remove candle smoke if it goes through shelves. Did you find a particular location where this isn't working properly?
Huh I've had smoke turned off for so long I never noticed you added that feature. You really are a wizard! Thanks for the quick reply. really appreciate your work.
This mod doesn't use an ESP (unless you also use the optional Lua Helper utility), or make changes to any game content, so it should be possible to add it to an existing save game without compatibility problems.
That looks like something that could be done with Distant VFX. According to the mod description, it appears permission has been granted for the flame and planet assets to be used as modding resources, so I'll probably have a go at seeing if I can make it work.
Feature Request: lightning bolts under storms are possible? Something similiar to Abot's? https://abitoftaste.altervista.org/morrowind/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=24&catid=43&Itemid=67&-Thunders-Lightnings
Should be fine with any 0.49 build that isn't too old, RC release isn't a hard requirement. My main reason for linking to the OpenMW 0.49 RC builds, is their download page is easier to navigate than the OpenMW GitLab site.
Wow... Every your mod is even better than the previous one. I don't have enough words to describe how cool it is. Thank you so much for all of your mods!

Thanks for the idea.
