    Locked
    Sticky
Note: if you have problems zooming in/out when in 3rd person view, be sure to have the Morrowind Code Patch + Beta update option "Vanity camera lock" ON (Visuals category).
"Reduce camera clipping" option ON is also really suggested.

Simultaneously adjusting the FoV and zoom has great potential but could use some polish. The zoom time is too slow, it doesn’t support zooming in from a third-person view (I'd expect it to work like zoom in OpenMW here), and controlling it feels unnatural. Occasionally, it gets stuck in close zoom, and zooming out switches to third-person without changing the FoV. In such cases, only left-click helps to reset FoV. But it looks promising. Automated camera movement, now that would be something. Can't wait till we get to see vertigo effect in Morrowind.

New comment rather than an edit (I was in the middle of commenting and stupidly pressed page back, so had to redo it).
Got a new mouse, my old ones was getting sticky buttons, and also to make sure it wasn't in the way of this mod.

Same issue still, from Third person view to first person view only, the rest works well. With zoom in steps set to 1, it still takes about 3 seconds of rotating the wheel for the switch from third person view back to first person view. Slow speed rotation does nothing, it needs a moderate or fast pace. The POV button to switch has to be set to Mouse Wheel UP (or down).

    • Third person view -> X -> First person view -> Zoomed in
    • Zoomed in -> First person view -> Third person view

For now, I have this set to Button 2, so I can use this to exit third person view - and also to see my character when feeling vain. :D
It's great to have this POV switching on the wheel after having in used to it Skyrim and other games.

But still, Abot, I'd like to thank you once more for all those cool MWSE mods your bring to the game. Looking at my game files, I'm running 7 of yours with this one.

I will try and see if I can get some idea to make the passage between 3d person and 1st person view less tricky,
In the meantime, try the 8th one candidate, I think you could like it.

Great idea, and I wish it worked for me, but it doesn't. Presumably a mod conflict. Perhaps Steadicam? That's the only thing I can think of right now that might be interfering with camera related shenanigans. Maybe More Quickloot since that relies on mouse scrolling too for menus? Seems less likely.

In my game I can zoom out from first to third person with the scroll wheel, but then as soon as I'm in third person the mouse wheel doesn't do anything. Or, from first person, I can zoom in as though I'm looking through a telescope (presumably it's a FOV adjustment being made by the scroll wheel there). Presumably not how the mod is supposed to function

I have no doubt it's a conflict issue on my end btw, not your mod. I will probably try figuring out the conflict when I start a new character next because this is a mod I'd love to get working.

      > from first person, I can zoom in as though I'm looking through a telescope
No, although not really like a telescope, that is the intended zooming in behavior, like when you zoom in while talking to a NPC in more recent games or e.g. Close Inspection mod (that is compatible as I still use it)
      The intended behavior should be:
      (A. 3rd person view)>>[mouse wheel scroll up until switch distance reached ]>>(B. 1st person view)>>[mouse wheel scroll up by "Wheel steps to trigger zoom in" ]>>(C. zoom in)
as you usually keep scrolling up a little during phase B. by inertia, try increasing in the mod MCM the number of wheel steps before triggering C, so you do not always zoom in immediately after going to 1st person view.
Same with zooming out, a small mouse wheel scroll down should just zoom out, next scroll down should go back to 3rd person view.

I will try and check if I can reproduce the problems using Steadicam
Quickloot in theory should not conflict as this mod should do nothing in MenuMode, while QuickLoot should only do its things in Menu Mode, but maybe there is some "eating of mouse scroll event" conflict during the passage to MenuMode

[EDIT] so I checked and in my setup both Steadicam and Quickloot seem to work fine with this mod so hopefully it is a matter of  tweaking MCM settings

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and I have to put back a button to switch the POV.
I wonder if it's just my old mouse acting up.

Did you already try tweaking the MCM settings?
If not try increasing/decreasing the "Wheel steps to trigger zoom out" by 1 step at a time
[EDIT] I will try to improve MCM settings descriptions in next update.
