Not a bug as such, but I have noticed that when I hover the cursor over items for sale now I get really dreadful slowdown. I'm fairly sure it wasn't always doing this, so perhaps a MWSE update has changed something..?
It only does it after playing for a while - so I guess something to do with RAM filling up..
It's a mod conflict with Smarter Harder Barter, nothing I can do about it on my end. That mod is doing expensive calls triggered by the priceCalculated event
Oh lord. I had installed that at some point but thought I'd removed it - except I hadn't removed the MWSE portion of it. I bet that was causing all sorts of chaos. Now removed. Hopefully that will have sorted it out! Thanks as always.
Wow. Removing that has boosted performance generally. Not a good mod to have installed.. And now buy/sell prices are a little less extreme too. Can't believe I had that installed for.. well, two years according to when I downloaded it.
I spoke a little too soon, as I do still get slowdown when crosshairs are over items. Do you know of any other mods that could cause this? A search in the mods folder didn't return ANY files now with "priceCalculated", so it can't be anything using that.
I've tried disabling Tooltips Complete, Animated Pickup, Buying Game, my Imperial Bank mod, anything that I thought might be a culprit, but no change.
Thanks. And, I've finally got myself a real computer, with a real GPU. It does indeed make a difference! Quite ironic that a 20+ year old game requires beefier hardware than far more recent games..
Sometimes, it makes items purchasable in houses that are not shops, and even when they are abandoned (there is no NPC around). For example, in locked houses in Sadrith Mora. I use BCoM, maybe that's the reason.
Hi! Thank you for a wonderful mod, and for the many other mods over the years.
There's a mod called "No Accidental Stealing" (https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/47733) which lets the player steal only when in sneak mode, preventing accidental theft. Unfortunately it conflicts with Shop Around and No Stealing seems to take priority no matter the load order. With both mods enabled, the "decided not to steal" message takes precedence over the buying popup every time.
On paper the two mods together would be a wonderful set and a well rounded immersive design for item interactions and pickups. Letting the player shop visually and naturally in stores, while having stealing be a deliberate action in shops and elsewhere as well, and generally preventing accidental theft from clumsy key presses.
Would you consider building something like the No Accidental Stealing functionality natively into Shop Around?
I noticed those who'd refuse services(whether because you're carrying skooma/moon sugar, or because you're not affiliated with certain faction, or some other reason, etc.) will still sell you the items that they have on display. Is this intentional?
I'm okay with that. Service refusal is an annoying, under-baked mechanic anyway. And its intention is to stop you selling contraband, not to stop you buying things.
Dunno if this is a feature or not but now every object you interact with makes this default menu click sound in addition to whatever sound it is supposed to play on activation
I've been playing with this mod for the second day and didn't notice it. I read your comment and checked, indeed, when opening the container, the sound of a mouse click is played, if you disable the mod, there is no click.

Same mechanics but it's compatible with Shop Around
Thanks.

I was able to make a conversion for OpenMW, that I added on to my existing mod Animated Pickup (which was another MWSE conversion!)
Thanks for making this.
