Hey Wolfweim, do these actually contain anything really dependent on OpenMW? I renamed the file to esp and could load it up fine in the CS. Also both in the CS and ingame a few quests seem to be missing their "finished" journal entries. Bunch of quests have empty 100 states. I did a quick test ingame with the .openmwaddon file and had the same issue as in the renamed .esp file in the CS.
-> Looks to me this isn't at all OpenMW exclusive, since all it needs is a rename of the file, BUT I think some journal entries are empty, unless I fucked up somewhere?
Hi Caran7hir. These mods rely on OpenMW because they were created using the OpenMW CS. If you rename them as .esp files and try to load them in the Vanilla Construction Set, they might appear to load fine, but chances are you'll run into errors that will prevent the mod from working properly in Vanilla.
As for the empty stage 100 entries, yes, there are probably a few. Honestly, I didn’t see much point in adding extra journal entries that just repeat what the NPC already tells you when you finish a quest. To me, it felt like unnecessary clutter.
In my more recent mods, I’ve started including "descriptions" to those final entries since it’s the more widely accepted practice. But in this particular mod, when a quest is completed, it simply gets removed from the active quest list. The one quest that does have a filled-out stage 100 was updated later to fix a bug, so I added the final entry at the same time. I’ve got no problem adding similar wrap-up lines to the rest of the quests if needed.
Very nice mod overall. It has a certain Vanilla-like feeling. I found one journal-related bug in "Glass Worker's Hall - Negotiating with the Governor". I talked with the governor and the quest-giver and received the reward, but the quest is still shown as active in the journal with the status telling me to "deliver the news" despite the fact that I already did
You're right. I've uploaded a corrected version to fix this issue. In your case, since you've already completed the mission, type "journal WMVC_negwithgov 101" in the console, and the entry will disappear from your journal.
Thanks for a quick response :). Good job with the mod! Any plans for further mods in this series? Some places could definitely use more quests to make them a little bit more interesting. St. Olms seems like an obvious choice. Besides Vivec, though, I think that e.g. Maar Gan or Molag Mar would benefit from more content. Just some potential options :).
Yes, I do hope to release more. I’m currently working on one for St. Olms, and after that, I plan to work on Molag Mar :) As you mentioned, it’s a place with almost no content.
Awesome work! I played through all of the quest now and they are all exceptionally well written. I really love your ambition to bring more life to these underutilized locations and characters in the game.
Thank you so much! Those words mean a lot to me :)
When I made the mod, I had in mind to create quests that, in their mechanics, would be like vanilla quests, but a bit more interesting and focused on the lore... I hope I achieved that.
If you enjoyed this mod, please try the one I released about the Abbey of St. Delyn. I think you'll like it [but keep in mind that some quests in this other mod require being member of the Temple].
Those cantons have always bothered me by their lack of questlines, too. It's almost as if they were added to the game just for the sake of being there. This project sounds very exciting and I hope you will continue to expand on it!
