About this mod
9 hotkeys is too less for a game with custom spell making. With this in mind a cyclical hotkeys implements 81 hotkeys using the original 9 such that pressing any one up to nine times will cycle through all spells removing the need to open the inventory and equip manually
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
not relying on MWSE due to OpenMW lua scripting divergence
There are 2 modes
- Hotkey setup mode
- Hotkey use mode
Note that vanilla hotkeys can no longer be mapped to 1-9
if you wish to use vanilla hotkeys along with this mod remap them anywhere else like numpad to use 81+9 hotkeys
Weapons will not get assigned to cyclical slots
Hotkey Setup Mode
- Press \ key -> You will see the mode name pop up.
- Equip a spell (If you don't a warning will be issued)
- Then choose from hotkeys 1-9 like in original game.
- After pressing the desired hotkey in the above step choose which cycle (again from 1 to 9) it should be set to
For example.
equip Shock
Press \ (Hotkey Setup mode)
Press 1
Press 1
Equip Fireball
Press 1
Press 2
Exit (By pressing \ to switch to Hotkey Use mode)
Default mode is Use mode hence first \ press is needed to setup the hotkeys
A message window will pop up at bottom center of the screen
Hotkey Use Mode
- Press \ key to switch to hotkey use mode.
- Press 1 (first time) this will equip Shock.
- Press 1 again (second time) this will equip Fireball.
- Press 1 again (third time). No third spell was entered so the hotkey goes back to start of the list -> Shock spell.
- This can be one for 9 hotkeys for cycles of 9 lengths leading to 81 spell toggles.

Installation
Add Mod to data and content in cfg
Download, unpack and update openmw.cfg with the following
data=(your path)/Cyclical Hotkeys
content=Cyclicalhotkeys.omwscripts
Uninstallation
Can remove mid playthrough though Save data will persist
Save data is of maximum size 4*81 = 324 Bytes so should not cause any memory bloat in the 21st century.
