--Portal Relic--

I always relished the puzzle like nature of navigating Morrowind by various means and I have always wanted to make some magical apparatus for instant travel that was a little more involved than casting a spell but would also look nice as an ornament or something.

Even though there are two sets of items they are one relic, from the distant past that's been left lying around

the upper levels of Nzsuleftingth gathering dust on a Dwemer shelf for an age or two, they are probably pretty dusty!

Use straight off the shelf. There's a How it works description below but there's enough feedback messages to allow the player to figure out how to use the relic themselves if they want.

--Version 1.1--

Added textures from pbr textures that I created in filter forge 13 pro then resized (obey the powers of two!) and converted to .dds's.

I also edited the animation to try and make it a little more interesting, this took a little while as I had to learn how to use the new nif addon for blender 4.2, it's a pretty good addon though.

I made a scroll containing notes on the relic, it’s in Dwemer though so it’s just mainly as a memento one could use as decorative clutter but has no functional use and is not required to use the relic.

--Install--

Extract and merge with your data folders (update mwse) and enable the esp. To uninstall delete the files.

Structured conventionally so should work normally for mod organisers.

Updating from version 1: you should have no problem updating, the script saves the locations of items in the player save data and none of the items have been moved or re-instanced in the CS so they'll be no duplicates or missing instances ect.

--Features--

I've written a single lua script which handles all the functionality of interacting with the objects. I have tried to make it as robust as possible and the script will handle the stands being in the same cell and will always use the stands 'front' and orientation to set the destination. The script uses player save data so no iterating over instances but everything can be used off the shelf straight away.

--How it works--

There are two stands and two orbs, a blue one and a red one which go on their corresponding stands, the stands themselves are misc objects that can only be added to the players inventory in menu mode when it does not have an orb paced on it.

The player can place an orb on it's stand by having the orb in their inventory and activating the stand outside of menu mode, they can then remove it by activating the stand and choosing to remove it.

When both stands are placed and they both have an orb on them then a tether is created that allows the player to create an outgoing portal from one to the other, the player will always appear at the embedded crystal's side of the destination stand regardless of the placement or rotation of the stand in a cell.

While both orbs are on there stand's the player can 'summon' or 'unsummon' an outgoing portal by interacting with the orb's.

Another method of closing the portals is to remove one of the orbs by interacting with the stand, this will collapse one or both (if both are open) of the portals which is handy for remotely closing a portal the player has just travelled through while still being able to portal back by replacing the orb and summoning an outgoing portal.

I use it for traveling things between player homes and it's also good for looting by setting up one at home and taking the other dungeon crawling.

--Just stick your arm in!--

For those wondering about the scale of the portal, the idea is that one only has to reach into the portal and they are dematerialized as they are pulled in and transmitted along the tether on a proprietary magical frequency and reconstituted at the destination stand via a magically collimated light beam emitted from the embedded crystal on the front of the stand [Definitely an effect I would like to add one day] .

--Notes--

I will probably revisit the texturing to tweak a couple of things (lighting) but otherwise it's finished. I might at some later point incoporate it into a quest mod to free up shelf space but that would be a while off.

I would highly recommend using Perfect Placement by Hrnchamd, its great for setting the stand's location and rotation so that your portals are in a favourable position but be warned that using Perfect Placement on the stands after you have placed an orb on it will move just the stand (it is fixed in place essentially otherwise while it has an orb on it).

I've double checked the esp in enchanted editor and tested on different characters on seperate machines to make sure it updates ok but if you have any trouble give me a shout, I’m always happy to help.
