Just started a new, modded playthrough of Morrowind after 10+ years. Been having such a fun nostalgia trip and I distinctly remembered sailing around on a ship in Morrowind at some point, but I couldn't for the life of me recall the name of the ship mod I used. So I blamed it on the apparent loss of many awesome mods and mod databases and basically gave up, until coming across yours. And this was it, Stormrider was the one. And it's an improved version to boot. Finding this feels like being 8 years old on Christmas day. Thank you so much for making this, I'll start messing around with it again, as soon as I get the chance, but I'll be sure to come back to endorse.

I also have been using Stormrider ever since it came out - I think it really did need this simple update for TR. It's a great mod. There really is nothing else like wandering around on deck as you cruise along offshore.

Edit: Also, add in pretty much every mod by Merlord. Huge immersiveness boost.

Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to check out his mods. This one works just fine btw. And I remember having this mod before TR. I guess TR was out in some capacity, but I never tried it. I later installed Morrowind only to check out TR once "Antediluvian Secrets" was released and my first thought seeing a mainland port was "Damn, the sailable boat mod would be really fun here."

If you haven't installed TR, you need to do that too. It's really exceptional. I can't imagine the game without it now. And I'd also strongly suggest Skyrim Home of the Nords, which IMO is a much better rendition of Skyrim than the game, Skyrim..

Yes, I have TR now and I'm amazed. Sometimes I can't even tell if something in the game is from TR or comes with the game itself. They've really done an amazing job integrating TR factions and items too. And I haven't tried Home of The Nords yet, but I definitely will and I agree, Skyrim did Nordic lore dirty in so many ways. I do love Skyrim, but it feels like a very watered down experience if you think about what it could've been. At the end of the day, Skyrim and Oblivion are great games and some of the best fun you can have with an RPG, but Morrowind is home.

Totally agree. Oblivion and Skyrim were both good games in their own ways - but not a patch on the weird wonderfulness of Morrowind, and I would say that when modded well, Morrowind is a more immersive game than them, and I would almost say better looking (especially Oblivion.. those heads....).

A very useful mod, being able to let the ship go by herself is enought to make this better than S&S. Endorsed!

It's pretty cool isn't it? Wandering around on deck as you sail along! I take absolutely no credit for its genius however.. Kellick Stormcrow did a great job with it, way back in the mists of Morrowind time..

As far as I recall it is the person who sells you the ship who tells you how to control it! But if you've forgotten, you use the sneak key to activate the menu - and then "anchor" stops the ship and you can move around.

Are you noticing any issues with the Sheogorad fast travel option. It's the one option when I select it does not port the ship with me for some reason.

I have found that happens if you have a mod that changes the name of the cell it ports to. In that case, it's a bit NW of Dagon Fel. Do you have anything that might be doing that?

That will be it then. Sorry.

The Azura's Coast teleport point isn't too far to the south, however..

This mod looks fantastic! I'm guessing OpenMW isn't an option though.

Somebody has made a patch for the original Stormrider in OpenMW (just search here for Stormrider). As I am not an OpenMW user I can't comment on what that patch does, but I can't honestly see why that patch wouldn't work with mine, as all I have done is alter a bit of dialogue and add in a couple of extra fast travel scripts. Nothing fundamental at all.

Hopefully it will work - maybe you can let me know? Best sailing mod, IMO. Really adds a lot to particular kinds of character builds.

I have installed this and the OpenMW fix that is mentioned (I use OpenMW 0.48) and I have a couple of issues.

      1) When you talk to the merchant his dialog options seem a bit randomised each time you talk to him and you only get the options to buy the boat and/or ship if he first happens to have the "specific place" dialog. This does not happen every time you talk to him so you have to go through this process several times. The merchant only appeared AFTER I installed the OpenMW fix btw.

      2) Probably this is known but it is incompatible with BCOM because when I eventually managed to buy the boat it is stuck in the extended docks that mod changed in Ebonheart.

I would love to have such a mod and it would be great if there could be fixes for this.

      Cheers

As the OpenMW plugin makes its own changes to the original Stormrider's scripts, I assume they are not compatible. The OpenMW plugin itself works just fine.

I guess the OpenMW plugin's author would have to adjust his mod to this one here.

I think it is "my trade" that has the necessary dialogue to initiate purchase of the ship.

I can't comment about BCOM. I prefer my own selection of individually chosen tweaks to places, rather than the "one big mod" approach. For instance, for Ebonheart I really like the "Better Forts" packages (though I had to edit them because the drawbridge/portcullis scripts were totally broken..).

Sorry that the OpenMW patch doesn't seem compatible at this point.. I think my changes to the fast travel options are quite useful (especially for the lower Thirr river, as you wouldn't be able to get in there otherwise), so hopefully a fix can be made.

first time trying this mod, i can't find the boat/ship dealer

after i try to install patch for openmw, i can find the dealer now

but why, when i use fast travel, the door at captain cabin disappear?

and, can you add option auto turn for ship like in boat menu?

Hi. Sorry, but I'm not sure it will work fully as expected with OpenMW, even with that patch (which is for a version slightly different to what I have released).

Sounds like a lot of fun - I may already have Sails and Sales on my install .. if i add this to have potentially TWO crews/ships ... would there be any conflicts?

I can't see that they would conflict - but you're going to be very surprised at how different they are. While I really wanted to get into the quest aspect of Sails and Sales, I didn't really like how the ships operated. Stormrider is a better sailing experience, for my money. Nothing quite like cruising down the eastern side of the Telvanni isles, looking at the view and wandering around the deck of your ship as you go..
