    Note: I uploaded an experimental and reduced version that works on the original game engine. There may be minor problems with placement on the floor.

    IMPORTANT:
    Unfortunately, due to problems with the vanilla version (with or without MCP, or MGE, MWSE), I recommend using this mod only with OpenMW. I will continue looking for the solution to this problem. My apologies.

    Oh dear, i have a very simple tiredness and hunger mod, and wanted to download a no sleep without beds mod, this would have been PERFECT. I hope you are able to discover a solution soon.

      Done. I have uploaded an experimental version. It is fully functional, but I had to leave out some things, for example, remove the lantern, the rug, and the stool. They were only decorative anyway. I had to do it due to problems with its placement on the ground.

    Love this mod
    This is a fun mod - and love it that it is not overly complex.
    For folks that are disappointed that it does not work with other sleep mods - it is not a bug - just different sleep/rest mods use different methods for how they detect sleep.

    Why some "rest" mods don't work with it.
    Some sleep/rest mods might look for a bed that uses the "bed_standard" script to detect that you want to rest.
    That will not work with this mod - as it is not a "standard" bed - it is a bed you move!
    (this bed's actvator has a different script on it - because you can pick it up).
    This is not a bug or a fault or either mod author.

    What can we do about it?
    (warning the next part gets a bit technical).
    Mods that WILL work with this mod - are those that base their rest of detecting the "REST" ui call - the screen where you tell the game how long you rest (there is one for detecting rest - but it is not a RESTing mod).
    And we don't want this mod to mess with the default bed scripts - as that could cause a lot of issues as well.
    Sadly, there is no morrowind defined global for tiredness/sleeping - so makes it difficult for mod authors to work together on such things.

    Note: I have enough modding skills to kind of figure out the challenge, but not the time nor skill to address it (we need a sleeping needs mod that works off the UI Rest trigger, not the bed script).
    Just wanted to share - this is a great mod - and does what it does well - just unfortunately - not all mods always work well together.

    Thank you to this mod author and many others out there supporting the morrowind gaming community.

      Thank you for your detailed explanation. What I plan to do next, is make it impossible to use the camp within the boundaries of towns and cities. It's a simple thing to do, but don't take it into account initially. Best regards.

      Love the mod.

      I made a very simple change to the Basic Needs for Morrowind mod to make it compatible with your camping mod.
      one thing that would make it even more so, is if the bedroll in the camp set (the one with the tent) if it has the same name as the independent bedroll - one is "Bedroll" the other is "Portable Bedroll".

      if they are both "bedroll" it would make it more compatible with other mods - as there are already other bedrolls in the game.

      Also, for anyone curious - to make Basic Needs for OpenMW compatible for the standalone Bedroll;
      In bed.lua, change the line ;
      return (record and record.mwscript == "bed_standard")
      To the line;
      return (record and record.mwscript == "bed_standard" or record.name == "Bedroll")
      thanks again for the great mod.

      I was thinking -
      Maybe use a different item for  the pick up activator (a small stool, lantern, etc.) - instead of the bedroll.  That way you can attach the Bed_standard script to the bedroll - making it compatible with all the other rest/sleepign mods out there.  Players use the Stool (or what ever simple item included in camp) to pick up etc.

      Basic Camp
      Stool and bedrool.

      Big Camp
      Stool, Bedroll, fire, etc.  Whatever else.

      Sadly, to make your fire compatible with other mods - would mean using the same base object - but even then might get tricky.
      Best to leave it optional (I think several of them use a campfire from OAAB data - but again, that feels out of scope for this mod).

      thanks again for your mod - love using it in my game.

    Love what I can get working of the mod, but I can't seem to actually use the camping gear. Once I set it down, I can't pick it up, or interact with the bedroll.

    The standalone bedroll works just fine without any problems, I can put it down, or pick it back up, and that's enough to get by! I'm just missing that full experience.

    Any help would be appreciated! And yes, I'm using OpenMW for it.

      What OpenMW and my mod versions are you using? Normal or No campfire version?

      Thanks for feedback.

      Sorry, I've done tests and haven't been able to repeat your problem. I have no idea what could be causing your problem, maybe some error at the time of installation? Could you try downloading it again and overwrite everything?

    Great with Cooking and Eating! Good replacement for Rollies. Apologies, I will be "that guy" and ask--any plans to add a non-zigzag tent for perhaps our more Cyrodiil-minded characters? Could even be basic brown leather. Ok if no.

    I tried this on OpenMW 0.48 and it all works fine. No crashes although my log file contains one warning ....

    Resource 'textures/misty/m/bedroll_01.dds' not found

    but it doesn't seem to affect anything. Very nice. Not overdone.

    Just one thought. I use a lightweight cooking and eating mod which has an active fireplace you can cook food on. If you had a version without your
    fireplace they would work very nicely together. Sorry to be one of those very nice but can you change it type of people!

    Cheers

      Thanks for the info! Sure enough, I realized that mistake. I forgot to pack a texture, which is that of the 3d model of the bedroll placeholder, but since it's practically not shown in the game, it doesn't really matter. In the next update I'll include the texture.

      As for your request, I will gladly make it. I'm guessing it's the "Cooking and Eating" mod by RacerPlume, which I also use. I'll try to replace the campfire with the mod's, having it automatically place as long as you bring it in your inventory.

      Best regards!

      I am considering this mod along with Racerplumes lightweight food and water mods as well.

      Auto placement is cool - but not necessary - just a "campsite with fire" and a "campsite without fire" would be enough.

      thanks for the mod!

    Thanks for making a straight forward camping/sleeping mod - perhaps you may consider just releasing/adding individual portable bedrolls as a separate merchant and/or level list item for those who prefer that? If you can buy a camping kit - you should be able to buy a simple bedroll. - something that your little Guar Friend can carry like so:

      I can gladly make another version that only contains the bedroll, but Arrille would still sell it, since I don't have much experience with leveled lists. It's all for little Tetra (which I have in my game 😁)

      Hey! Thanks for reply - I would suggest just have the single bedroll sold at merchants as an extra option in your mod - so more an addition than an either or thing.

    I'm CTD'ing on this one, unfortunately. It looks really cool though

    Here's the error message:
    Expression Error Unable to find object "z#ge" in script campingGear_bedroll_script

    even if it's the only mod i'm using i still get this error
    any ideas why this is happening?

      I am very sorry for any inconvenience caused. I would like to know what version of Morrowind are you using? OpenMW, Vanilla, MWSE, PC, Android, etc.

      I have used it in OpenMW, both on PC and in its Android version, and I have not had that error. In fact, I have no idea where that "z#ge" object comes from. Maybe a corrupt download?

      I would like to know more so I can solve that problem. I would appreciate any additional information you could provide me. I thank you enormously in advance. Greetings!

      Edit: Try this, please. Deselect actual mod and select this in the mod list. Only for users getting ' "z#ge" object ' error.

      Hi, I'm using MWSE on PC, alongside MGE and MCP. I have a relatively high end PC and the only survival mods I am using are Ket's Tired and Hungry and Can't Rest without a bed.

      I'm relatively new to modding and not sure how to load an esp directly. I am using Mod Organizer 2 to manage my mods and it doesn't let you just drop an esp in the plugins list. Putting it in data files directly isn't working as no camping kit is showing up at arrile's.

      EDIT: Compressed the loose esp and put it in my load order, still getting the same error on launch and loading a save in front of arrile
      EDIT X2: Tried multiple different combinations, putting the loose fix esp in data files directly, with Wares, without Wares, loading both at once or only one at a time, still getting the same error.

      Thanks for testing. It seems to be a problem with how the script is processed in vanilla Morrowind (with or without mcp). I need to check the error more thoroughly. Apparently OpenMW is not so strict in the script syntax.

      * I installed vanilla Morrowind and MCP, and I'm getting that "z#ge" error.

      Update: Part of the problem was missing spaces in several scripts. But now the problem seems to be about referenced objects not present in the world at the time of compiling the script when starting the game. I need to continue researching this in order to correct it.

      Only happens in vanilla Morrowind with or without MCP.

      MWSE with MGE and about a gillion other mods. XD Never used OpenMW. Also, on PC. I'll try the new esp and let you know. :P

      Edit: Still crashed, but that may be because it was iffy replacing it since I use Mod Organizer 2 and had to rezip the new esp into the archive. :P

      As others may be, I am considering using this with racerplume's simple eating and drinking mods - as most other survival mods are either too big or require mwse (or both!) - as I am on openmw.

      This mod is nice and simple - thank you for sharing!
