The starting location is randomly selected between all locations in the game that have an exit to an exterior cell. The starting sequence remained almost the same (Jiub->an NPC for race selection->Socucius Ergalla->Sellus Gravius). Alternatively, you can just exit the location to an exterior and complete the character generation. After you exit the new chargen location it will return to the default state (without chargen NPCs).
Warning, the mod isn't compatible with any mods that modify the game chargen sequence!
Requirements
OpenMW v0.49 (the development build) or MWSE (included in MGE XE)
Installation
OpenMW
- Download the OpenMW version of the mod.
- Extract the files to a directory you want.
- Then run the OpenMW Launcher.
- Click on the "Data Files" icon and then on the "Data Directories" tab.
- Click the "Append" button, locate and select the folder you created,
choose the folder path with "An Unexpected Start" in the list and click "Ok". - Then enable "An Unexpected Start.omwaddon" and "An Unexpected Start.omwscripts" in the "Content Files" tab.
MWSE
- Download the MWSE version of the mod and unpack it to the Morrowind Data Files folder.
- Then run Morrowind and enable the mod in the Mod Config menu.
Issues
- NPCs in a new chargen location may get stuck when moving or block the player's path.
- The mod can select a location that cannot be completed. For example, locations that contains unconnected areas.
- Before the first save/load, some doors in the original chargen location cannot be opened.
- In MWSE If the game freezes after the start, increase the delay option (added in 1.1.2 ver.) in the Mod Config menu.
If the mod just doesn't work, try to install a new version of OpenMW (v0.49, now it's a development build) or update MWSE (by running "MWSE-Update.exe" in the game folder)
