New in version 2: New balance options. You can now require that your character successfully casts the relevant effects at least once on their own before they can use the mod's features. This option is disabled by default to avoid confusion among users unsure of how to use the mod's functions, please check the config menu to customize your experience. 

In addition, you can now enable a limit on the air jump feature. You will be restricted to a certain number of air jumps, limited by your alteration skill. Your jumps will reset when you rest on the ground for a moment. The number of jumps you get is, by default, 1 per 30 points of Alteration (this is customizable). This should help rein in the wildest tarhiel-like leaps into Aetherius... or you can leave the limit disabled, and jump as wildly as you desire!


new in 1.1: Air jump feature! Unleash your inner tarhiel and leap yourself into the sky. Shift-jump to perform an air jump while jumping/falling. Jump power scales with your alteration skill. Air jump can be disabled in MCM if you wish. Its power scalar and magicka cost are also customizable. Provides some alteration XP when used.

Alteration Movement

Every wizard has experienced the awkwardness of casting a 30 second levitation spell to cross a gap for 3 seconds... and floating around for the remaining 27 seconds. If only levitation was a bit more elegant.

Now it is! Simply press the jump key in mid-air to engage levitation, and release it to disengage levitation.

You can also turn slowfall on and off the same way with the sneak key.

I call this "intuitive" alteration casting. By default, the feature unlocks at alteration skill 30 (configurable in the MCM).

For each second you maintain your levitate/slowfall, magicka will be drained and you'll gain a modest amount of Alteration XP. The magicka drain is also customizable in the MCM (3 per second by default).

Being able to start levitating with no cast animation is strong, but it is also a feature that is already readily available with potions and enchantments. The default magicka cost I guessed at from the basic levitation spell (10 pts for 30 seconds for 45 magicka, somewhat cheaper per second than my default 3 magicka per second). If you feel this is too powerful, crank up the magicka cost or skill threshold in the MCM.
