Why do the moons in different phases have different textures of their surface? I thought Masser and Secunda have tidal locking with Nirn like Moon with Earth IRL. Anyway this is a good retexture.

    Does this require MWSE/MGE XE?
    Edit: I don't think so.
New question: I know this is a big ask, but could you maybe do optional files that include the two moons packaged as either the 4k and 2k versions?

Why? 4k and 2k versions are already included in the download.

I guess it's petty, just don't want to download the 4k versions as well if I am not going to use them.

Why is the implied light source different on each moon? I don't know if this is some deep lore thing but having the shadows on Masser and Secunda be at slightly different angles looks very strange.

exactly what I came to ask. if there is a reason, I'll download it, but I'll hold off for now. it'll defimnitely bother me otherwise

Indeed, just what I was wondering.

Yeah I'm a bit too detail-fixated to be able to use this mod. The inconsistent lighting angles of the moons puts me off too much :(

There isn't really anything I can do about this. The light sources are exactly the same on each moon, but the game rotates the moons differently which causes this effect. The original game and many mods use soft shadows so it's not as visible but with the more realistic hard shadows I used here it's really noticeable.

It's very nice. But any ideas why my moons might be slightly transparent..? I can see the stars through them!

May just be how the engine handles the moons disappearing, I know vanilla Oblivion had the exact same issue when it was time for them to vanish.

So do you get the same thing? Do other people have the same problem? Anybody able to fix it?!

iirc the vanilla game handles masking of the Moons using the "tx_mooncircle" textures. Deleting any in your textures folder will revert to the vanilla ones and maybe fix the issue.

MGE XE also changes a few things with how the Skies and Moons are rendered, and if you have atmospheric scattering enabled, this should also fix the issue. Though iirc when the Moons fade in and out during the day/night they might actually become translucent. They should be opaque when they're at full visibility though.

Atmospheric scattering was on, and deleting those textures didn't change anything sadly.

It's only really noticeable on the shadowed portions of the moons. A bug I can live with, I think..

Wow! Thanks so much for the helpful links and uploads for creating such things! I have been asking in the discords for awhile on how to do custom edits to the sky and planets no one ever knows and there are n write up guides on how to go about it so this is a great start! Thanks!
