Hi Nazz, is it possible to blacklist Journal ID's in the interop for SSQN? I'm working on a patch for Project Cyrodiil, but they use some Journal ID's to track progress in the journal, that fires the quest started pop-up again. Great mod, Thanks!
That should be doable, but you would never see popups for those quests. I haven't been doing much modding lately, but if/when I do I'll see about adding this.
Thnx Nazz! If I can fully write out the Journal ID in the interop for a quest I want to block, never a pop-up is good.
taitechnic made it work for the openmw fork, maybe that helps you with creating something for mwse. If you look at my openmw ssqn interop you can see which Journal ID's I wanted to block for showing the pop-up.
I hope you regain interest and motivation to mod. Thanks anyway for your time!
Is there any future potential for this to be possible through OpenMW LUA scripting? Looks great, very handy, and most importantly doesnt look like skyrim at all :P
Thank you pharispharispharis! Cant wait to use something like this on OpenMW. I lost count of how many times some important information was stealthily added to the quest log without me noticing it. This feature is extremely useful.
great that this mod allows adding mods without editing the main file! MWSE related questing, is this possible for all MWSE mods? or has the base mod first support it in the first place to add stuff without editing the main file?
Any quest from any mod will get the notification, as long as they use the journal. The mod would have to use the interop functionality to have a custom icon displayed with the notification. Otherwise they will get a generic icon displayed with the notification.
my question was about the interop functionality and other MWSE/Lua mods. (btw i have no idea about MWSE and Lua) your mod is the first i saw where its really easy to add stuff for other mods without editing the main file, thanks to interop. and i wanted to know if this has to be supported by the mod in the first place. i edited the main file for "Let There Be Darkness - Lua Lighting Overhaul" and i assume if LTBD doesn't support interop, then i have to edit the main file, correct? which means i have to bug the LTBD author to add interop? =D
Sorry I misunderstood. The "right way" would be for the mod author to include the interop with their mod. But you can technically modify your own iconlist.lua file if you know the quest names and have a custom icon to use.
Very useful mod Could you add an option to add notifications also when a quest is updated ? Sometines you receive "a your journal was updated" message and you don"t know which quest it's related ; having the name of the quest would be nice.
Hello! Thank you for your wonderful mod and for the link to SSQN LE. While working on my add-on, I noticed one bug. If the quest ID contains the symbol "-" and the name of this quest is fully present in the config then the SSQN stops working completely.
Thank you for bringing this up. This is more of a Lua syntax issue, that I wasn't considering when I made the iconlist. If you change the icon assignment to:
icons["A2_6_Erur-Dan"]
Then it will work. The way I'm defining them is short hand for the above but does have limitations as you found. The only special character that works the shorthand way is underscore. You don't have to redefine all of them, you can just change the ones with the dash. Let me know if that explanation doesn't help.
The above shouldn't be an issue for mod authors as the interop uses quotes around the quest ID in the function call. It's really just an issue if you are directly editing the iconlist.
Great mod! I actually edited the icons list to include the Main Quest, Bloodmoon, Imperial Legion, Imperial Cult, Daedric, EEC and vampire quests. I also painstakingly added Tamriel Rebuilt support, as well as for City of Balmora. I need to test it more and add support for Tribunal's main quest among other things, and the icons were borrowed from that Oblivion mod that has custom icons (not sure on how to track down the author of those icons).
I can't make any promises, but I would like to be able to support the quests for Tamriel Rebuilt. Could you give me an example quest name with multiple underscores, and how you are trying to define the quest in the inconlist?
The newest version should allow you to give a custom icon to the TR quests, without changing how single underscore quests work. It now considers everything before the last underscore to be the prefix. TR_m1_EEC etc. should now work.

10/10
It is a nice feature but it tends to break immersion when used with unsupported mods like shotn.

Like these three quests:
A2_6_Erur-Dan
A2_6_Hort-Ledd
TR09_Gee-Pop
P.S. Sorry if my English is not very good.
icons["A2_6_Erur-Dan"]

TR support doesn't seem to work as there are multiple underscores, but the documentation warned about that, so I shouldn't be surprised.
icons.TR_m1_EEC = "\\Icons\\SSQN\\CO.dds"
CO.dds is a custom icon I took from that Oblivion mod. It works well for the BM EEC questline, though.
