Thanks for such a great mod. I have OpenMW, haven't tested the boat service, but no skin off my nose if not. I can just Mark and Recall or fly. haven't found the key yet, lol.
Hi Zarathas, I'm glad you like it! My apologies, but I don't have experience with OpenMW, and this mod wasn't designed with it in mind, so I can't guarantee compatibility. That said, the boat transport works similarly to a door, using a transport marker (if I recall correctly, I used a bottle with the right properties in the CS). If OpenMW handles doors or markers differently, that could explain the issue. This is just (very late) speculation on my part at this point, but I hope it at least helps.
This is amazing! Not too big, not too small. Just the right amount of everything. I love it. However! Tarhiel seems like the kind of guy who would have a basement. So I made him one. I modded your mod.
I didn't change any of your content except I moved and extended the stone wall outside. I added a basement though through a telvanni door on the side of the house right by the swamp in the back.
Can I share it with you at all? How do I send it to you?
Thank you for the kind words and apologies for my late reply, MongoMonkey. Ha, he really does seem the sort, doesn't he!
That sounds like a great way to personalize the house and I'd love to see what you did! You're more than welcome to send me some screenshots if that works for you. If you're already comfortable with the Construction Set, I'd also encourage you to consider making your own house mod—though I know all too well how involved these things can get, so no pressure =D
Gorgeous, delightful, reminds me of the beautifully aesthetic home mods from Skyrim <3 I love the lore addition. I can totally see Tarhiel living here.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Babblecat3000! I'm glad you appreciate the added lore, I like to think it gives the place a little more character as well =D
I thought I had left a comment here. I absolutely adore this house, it's just perfect. I love its organic feeling with the crooked architecture, lots of storage, and things to do around. It really fits well in the game! This makes me wish to see what you could do for a more evil character.
Wow! Ever since reinstalling Morrowind, I've been looking for a nice house that's a change from all the old favourites I used years ago...and this is it... Beautiful, functional and a built-in reason as to why the player character ends up with such a nice house straight off the literal boat (we won't think too much about whether or not Tarhiel had a will ). Also, it's mostly compatible with Ashfall, which is great. The barrels and kegs provide water, and the fireplace in the living/dining area can be used for cooking. Ironically enough, the oven in the kitchen itself doesn't appear to be capable of cooking.
Cheers!
Oh, one very tiny thing.. I think some of my mods conflict with Tarhiel's inventory, because I didn't find the key on his body, so I looked up the ID in the CS. For anyone else in this situation, it's: Va1_Tarhiel_key
Unless, of course, I'm an idiot, and it's actually hidden somewhere outside the house, but it seems reasonable to assume he'd take his house key with him before leaping into the unknown?
Cheers Sonja! I’m glad I was able to enhance the experience of an old classic for you and that’s excellent news about Ashfall. To be honest, I didn’t do anything in particular to make it compatible, but I’m happy it mostly is! I think it may not be working with the “oven” because it’s not technically an oven (at least according to the game). I think the game treats it as a blacksmithing…. Forge, maybe? Honestly, I’m not sure, but I saw it in Tel Fyr’s tower while looking for inspiration and figured it would look nice =D
I don’t have any experience with Ashfall but depending on what Ashfall uses as a trigger for cooking (the fire, the fireplace itself, or something else, I couldn’t say) it may be possible to add the “thing” to the “oven”, if that makes sense. I don’t know how important it is to you, but let me know, if it is possible, it's likely an easy enough tweak to make.
Hmm... I actually finished creating the mod around this time last year so some of the specifics are a little fuzzy. I recall that a new game is required for the key to spawn. If it was a new game and the key didn’t spawn, then you’re right it’s likely either a bug or a conflict of some kind. Also, you seem to know what you’re doing, and you had it right, there should be just a single key on his body (alive or dead). Knowing me like I do, I would have given it that ID. My naming convention isn’t exactly complex =p
Ah... if the "oven" is actually a forge, that would make sense. I'm honestly doing just fine cooking over the fireplace.. In fact, it works out great! The cooking pot you placed over the fire can be used to make stew, and I can attach a grill to the fire, which allows me to make tea, or roast meat, veggies etc. I'm using the nearby chest to store ingredients, and I'll use the table for my alchemy apparatus. That way, everything will be exactly where I need it. (I use "At Home Alchemy") I just found it amusing that the 'oven' itself was decorative. So, basically, if at some point you feel really bored and want to update the mod with a functional oven, that would be great, but it's not at all necessary. Besides, you're right, it does look nice.
Since I significantly updated some of my mods, and added some major new ones, I tested things out with several brand new characters, and none found the key on Tarhiel's body. I suspect it's because I have OAAB, Wares and Tamriel Data installed. I don't mind consoling in the key, but if you were to update, it may make sense to place a spare key somewhere outside the house, in a container, or something, given the aforementioned mods are very popular currently. Again, though, that's incredibly minor, and I really love this house; it has a gorgeous aesthetic, and it's very nicely laid out. Also, the interior lighting with "MGEXE," "Lights 300" and "Glow in the Dahrk" is lovely. In any game I play, lighting (modded or vanilla) is critical for me.
Sonja! I apologize for the late reply. I toyed with the idea of maybe trying to figure out how to make the “oven” compatible with Ashfall but ultimately decided against it. While I do like the idea of making it functional, the original plan was to keep this mod as simple as possible (unlike my last one) and while I’m thrilled that it’s mostly working, I don’t know much about how Ashfall operates, and it seems a bit much for me for the time being.
Still, I wanted to thank you again! I’ve also added some notes about the key to the mod page and of course, given you credit. It’s funny, I was going to ask you to share some screenshots using Ashfall and the lighting mods you use because I was curious and when I logged in, I saw you already posted one! It looks gorgeous! I’m tempted to try and add Lights 300 and whatever else you’re using to my own game. Please don’t hesitate to share more screenshots if you’d like, I’ll happily given them the OK/display them (That goes for anyone else reading this as well) =D
Well... Now it's my turn to apologise for a much later reply! I think I ended up distracted by RL, other games, and I haven't been logging into Nexus very regularly. Anyway... I am happy to report that Tarhiel's Tower is, in fact, 100% compatible with Ashfall. Before, I was getting tripped up by the fact that the fireplace is (cosmetically) burning...whereas, Ashfall requires that I still add wood, and light it. Once I did that...the pot you positioned over the fireplace works perfectly, I can cook stew in it and everything! Similarly, the existing grill functions as a grill, and I was able to snap an Ashfall frying pan to it as well. Just figured I'd mention this in case anyone else is fooled by the apparently burning fire.
Glad you like the screenie, I'll see about taking a few more.
Very Late EDIT This time around I have swapped out Lights 300 for Let There be Darkness, which looks just as nice.
Really like the house, however I do have one negative piece of feedback. A lot of the containers in the property are marked as owned , meaning anything put in them will get flagged as stolen. Outside of this I could see this being a nice property to link into other mods that deal with Tarhiel acting almost as his HQ
Hey HMCascade, I'm glad you like it! Don't worry, they are marked as owned because they are owned by the player. I went through and made sure all storage added by the mod was player-owned and they all have unique ID's so as not to interfere with other containers of their kind which stops any hidden "theft tags". I actually didn't realize there were mods that saved Tarhiel until I saw the below comments. I guess it opens up some other avenues of roleplay though, depending on what you wanted to accomplish by preventing his demise. All I know is, he never really wanted to talk about it with me.

It's my favorite Morrowind house mod.
