i kinda feel like with this mod people are far more eager to greet the player... as in they speak more often than in Vanilla. Am I crazy? Is this mod changing the timer between greetings? If so, what would be the best way to revert that to vanilla? I love the mod, but it just feels like people are talking way too often if that makes sense. This could totally be an issue from another mod tho, just curious.
EDIT: Also, if anyone knows how to properly remove certain voice lines without removing an NPCs voice all together, let me know. There are a few who drive me insane, specifically the Guild Guide lines. If I simply remove those voice files, they stop having voice lines all-together.
Unsure how you read my comment. My observation is that what happened to translators, for example, is now happening to artists. People need to be retrained in different fields when technological advancement renders their current training obsolete and not to be simply left without a way to meet their needs.
After reading the article am reminded that a significant number of modders, here and elsewhere, need to have a training in communication. Not to be elevated for being asses.
I mean, anyone who wants to make a simplistic theft arguement, answer me this - are you going to post a comment on the star wind mod for using lucasarts IP, designs and creations without their permission? Are you going to contact lucasarts lawyers to get it shut down? We're not mega companies scamming artists to make big bucks. We're making free mods for a niche community to enjoy.
When I made the mod idle talk, no one cared that i took vanilla voice files and re-edited them to make new ones in audacity. In fact, they loved it. But when I put vanilla voice files through elevenai to make new ones, its theft? The only thing that changed was the sophistication of the tool.
Wolfe was pretty concise though, I think the only one with a communication problem here is you buddy. The fact that they even take the time to reply, to something they have probably heard 10 thousand times by now, even if just to tell you to go to the article, is honestly much more than you deserve.
Mods are community love letters to games, they aren't commercial ventures. Especially mods made for a 20+ year old game like this one. If people WANT to voice act for a mod they are more than welcome to, but it should not be with an expectation to get paid. Are you paying to download this mod? No, you aren't. In other words, there aren't any jobs here for AI to "steal" in the first place. If you want to debate the ethics of AI replacing voice acting jobs, how about you go bring it up with the actually relevant parties, instead of some random third actor who just so happens to be using AI for a passion project.
Frankly you owe Wolfe an apology for the way you're acting, and even though I doubt you have the emotional intelligence to realize that, I would very much love to be surprised.
Terrific addition to the game. Thanks for your work on this and in general.
One unfortunate incompatibility/interaction is that, if you use AliceL93's Fargoth in Distress quest mod, once he gives you the ring, he will thereafter be audibly concerned about "losing" his ring again.
Been doing a playthrough with this mod as a part of the Expanded Vanilla list for OpenMW and it's been awesome. It's been really cool to get to hear the original voice actor's voices for all of the quests and characters that have never had dialogue. Also shoutout to the Ahnassi voicelines. Haha.
not a fan of AI voice...things?...being trained on actual human's voices. i'm sure most of the VAs would not be thrilled about this, as with any AI-generated audio mod trained with a VA's voice here on nexus.
If you want to pop a more substantial comment on the article, we can talk about it.
I just can't believe that anyone can make the argument that mods like this for a 20 year old game are changing how likely the VAs are to get hired for paid roles.
Are you going to go on all the youtube videos with dagoth ur voice memes and post your same comment to everyone there?
Or did you just come to take a crap on the modding community of a niche rpg?
People like you dont change how the film or game industry treats actors. You just make subcommunities feel a little rubbish.
Is there a way to make it so that some NPCs only say their voiced greetings once? Every time I (very frequently) waltz past Ranis Athrys on the way to her Guild Guide she tries to indoctrinate my Telvanni PC to join the Guild lol

If you're just here to say 'what about the jobz' and call me an ass, we can move on.
