The new LevelUP sound effect is mostly my work, with the original sound mixed in. The new Triumph is a remastered version of the original included in the game, and is mostly the work of Jeremy Soule.

It's about time the "LevelUp" sound effect earned itself a Level Up. And now that I have done so, the original Triumph music needed a volume boost to match. Now they both sound as powerful and epic as they should. As with any good remaster, I tried to make it what your imagination remembers.
I started by recreating the feel of levelUP.wav as much as I could, surrounding it with layers of sound until it becomes almost as epic and magical as Soule's work. Then I was able to weave the original sound back in, so it feels the same as before, but without having to hear the same old effect you've heard thousands of times.
After resting your character to Level Up, the music track "Triumph" is played, and I would't even try to do a cover of it, even with Reason's Orkester soundbank. The most I could ever do with that is re-master it with multi-band compression, which didn't exist 20 years ago. Now it sounds better than ever, and it's volume is not overshadowed by the revamped LevelUP.
But Soule's work in comparison is what makes the vanilla levelUP.wav so weak. Or should I say, it was weak. Because thanks to Propellerhead Reason, I've integrated many layers of sound to re-vitalize and re-imagine the levelUP sound as something almost as inspiring and empowering as Soule's Triumph.
This work is a triumph of my own, as this took me much less time than I should admit, and it's been a long time since I actually felt like trying to do work in audio production. Comments and suggestions are welcome.
