Hey, I tried out this mod and edited the ini settings like the notepad said however the only thing that happened was it added a series of orange clouds above me that persisted even if it was night. I added both the directory and the cfg settings to my ini file but no matter what I do it just does that with the mod installed, and it keeps up there even if I change the weather manually through console commands. I am using OpenMW by the way.
The instructions for installing the textures are rather vague. Can you provide a few more details? Does it need to be in a subfolder? Or does it install it into textures and point the config to the textures folder? Or does the texture pack get installed to the same OpenMW folder that the openmw.cfg goes in under my documents?
For of all, just to be sure we are on the same page, the mod is only for OpenMW, if you are using morrowind.exe follow the link in the beginning of the description page.
Said that, the mod has two independent components: one, new configurations for the light colors and, two, new textures for the skies. You can use one, the other, or both.
To install the new textures it is just like installing any other texture replacer, copy them somewhere for that, for example, the .dds files are in the directory c:\.....\mymods\skies\textures and in the launcher you can add the directory c:\.....\mymods\skies .
To install the new settings requires a bit of manual editing. You need to find your openmw.cfg configuration file (check here OpenMW paths documentation)
Be sure to have the launcher and game closed and open openmw.cfg with an editor (e.g. notepad). Inside the file are many configuration rows, you need to copy the ones you like in the bottom (e.g., from the CFG settings.txt file)
Right, I have the manual editing done in my openmw.cfg, but the texture pack had me confused. For clarity, this is my first game build using OpenMW, but I have a computer that refuses to run MO2, so I need to mod the game manual style. Typically when I see a pack labelled textures, I send it to ....Morrowind\Data Files\textures, and if it needs to be overwritten I do that. But this mod says the textures need to be pointed to in the openmw.cfg. I know how to register grass mods in the .cfg, and add the .esm, .esp, .omwaddon, and .omwscripts to the content list, but this is a texture pack that says in the instructions to have it pointed to in the .cfg, and I simply haven't needed to do that for textures in any other mod I am using, so I wanted make sure I was installing this correctly. Basically what I am looking for here is an example of what the textures pack data = reference in the .cfg should look like.
OpenMW supports multiple data directories. The main advantage is that it makes easier to add/remove mods because to install a new mod will not overwrite anything. For example, you play with the altered sky textures from this mod, decide you do not like it, you can easily revert.
How it works? In the openmw.cfg are several rows in the format key=value, the data directories rows look like that: data="c:\full\path\to\the\directory" . There can be multiple data= rows, in that case if there are two files with the same name the game considers only the last. So to install this texture replacer you unpack it somewhere, and add the relative row in the configuration file. To uninstall remove the row from the configuration file and delete the directory.

Thank you for this mod - the OpenMW.cfg edits are amazing even with out the sky textures. I need Morrowind to look just a little more alien, but not too alien - your edits did the trick.
I was searching all over Nexus - and didn't see this mod you linked above - because I was searching for "weather" and "sky" or "skies" - I'll try out Colorful Morrowind Skies - it might be just right without being too heavy on the colors. Thanks!
So if I also use "True Nights & Darkness" (https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/46082) Should I select the darkest cfg color tweak settings with this mod?
My suggestion is testing what you like most. There are also people that mix and match, like using darker variants for "bad" weather and normal for good weather.
By any chance, if someone made a lovely mashup, could it be shared ? =3 ( I feel so lazy making it ! lol I admit I’ll keep my cfg as it is and hope it renders good ! ^^ )
Yessss finally more weather related mods for OpenMW! Amazing work man!! It look beautiful!! Thank you for your work! Would love to see MORE interesting and diffrent variations for OpenMW! Get freaky with it :P

Good work, appreciate the efforts.
Edit: NVM, fixed it with a fresh reinstall.

In addition of vanilla, for the skies there is plenty of alternatives.
One I like is "Colored Skies" https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/48880?tab=files
Normal for: Clear, Cloudy, and Snow.
Darker for: Blizzard, Foggy, Overcast, and Rain.
Darkest for: Ash, Blight, and Thunder.

Recolored snow and blizzard, the new weathers of Bloodmoon. Added dark, darker, and darkest variants.
