  1. Extra heavy for extra HARDCORE, nice!

Edit: it seems enabling weight changing mod on an existing save would cause an encumbrance bug. My character now with no item in inventory and totally naked would still have 197 encumbrance. Seems I will have to start over :(

Edit 2: started a new game and still bugged. I dropped all gold to the ground and have 0 weight despite all other items I still have in my inventory, then I pick them up, suddenly gain tons of encumbrance and no longer able to move. Maybe all these issues were caused by conflict against some other mods I have.
    1. Oh no that's terrible, I'm sorry that happened, I uploaded a file to fix this for you. It should "reset" the changes.
Please load the new file last and use it instead of the weight version.

As Abot has pointed out this may be an issue with the Vanilla engine.
Currently there are MWSE enabled mods that add weight to Gold, so those may be worth checking out if you aren't using OpenMW.
    2. Thank you for the reply! The new 0 weight plugin doesn't reset the encumbrance problem. But don't worry, that save wasn't important at all and trying different mods and start new game is just how I play TES games. Sounds weird but I do enjoy it this way xD
    3. I want to try and get this issue fixed for you, the weight value I added to the gold has imprinted itself into your inventory.

Try loading the Gold Weight Remover plugin, and your save.
      Drop all items.
      Note your encumbrance. (197)
      Open the Console (~)
      player->additem "misc_com_bottle_01" 1
      player->removeitem "misc_com_bottle_01" 198
      Close the Console (~)
      Save and check encumbrance.

When Removing the bottles (second command) make sure you enter your encumbrance +1 to account for the bottle that we are adding.

      Nope. Sorry.
After input additem bottle 1, carryweight became 198,
After input removeitem bottle 198, carryweight return to 197 again.
Also had already tried with item soulgem common using same method before, same result.

Don't worry, I think I will get this char a 0 cost consist 197 pts feather spell or ability to compensate it.

Darn it, I guess the feather effect is a good workaround.
If you are using MCP there is a "removeitem weight fix" that can stop this from working.

Otherwise yeah, the feather effect will work, might be able to clean / edit your savegame with wrye or tesame/enchanted.

I think this is caused by any sort of transaction with an npc, the gold weight stays but the gold in your inventory goes..  I tested this by taking a bunch of gold while naked and trained until I spent it all and the weight of my gold stayed on me despite not having any

You should make ultra nightmare hardcore where each gold coin is one pound.

Aahh, finally an answer to why NPC's only carry around 5 or so gold on them.
I'll get it done for ya.

No idea if OpenMW fixed gold behaviour, but this mod, like all identical mods (made and discarded years ago) simply changing misc items gold weight, will cause in the long run player encumbrance bugs using standard Morrowind. As far as I know, there is no Morrowind Code Patch option for fixing this standard gold behavior.
Currently working gold weight mods for standard Morrowind use MWSE-Lua to directly change player encumbrance or MWSE to add a burden effect

Thank you so much for the explanation, that clarifies things very well.

That is probably why I couldn't find any simple plugins to do this without scripts.
I will update the description and requirements on this mod and look into OpenMW-Lua for when version 0.48 releases.

      Edit:
I just did more testing in OpenMW putting Gold in different amounts into and out of my inventory through both containers and onto the floor.
The only issue is the tooltip will only say the weight of the model of the gold stack, either 1, 5, 10, 25, or 100.
As soon as the item enters your inventory it behaves as normal.

The Morrowind CS seems to round off anything past the hundredths so it might not work as intended with all amounts of gold.
And also with 0.001 weight per gold piece, you would be carrying around 10k gold when looting a dungeon, I made this mod to avoid that.

I added a couple of additional files in the download section for ya ;)

Cool mod, I have always found it a bit odd that there aren't any penalties to carrying around thousands of gold pieces wherever you go in vanilla.
