Description
It is not required but please make sure to read the General Notice if you want to learn more about this and my other mods.
The Continue mod by Petetehgoat and the New Game Confirmation by hardek are excellent QOA improvements for the Main Menu. However, some users have reported crashes and other bugs when using them with modern versions of the MWSE. The Main Menu component is quite tricky to work with since it appears both before a save file has been loaded and in-game, and it is updated constantly. This makes bug detection difficult because the conditions that lead to a crash may depend on a vast range of parameters, including interactions with other mods that are enabled in Menu mode. This mod is an attempt to introduce the features of the aforementioned mods in a way that the Main Menu's original behavior remains as stable as possible. It includes the following togglable features:
Adds a Continue button in the Main Menu to load the most recent save file. Optionally it also prompts for the user's confirmation before loading the file.
Shows a confirmation prompt when the New Game button is pressed, even when one is not provided by the game, i.e., before a save file is loaded, and when the player dies.
Hides the New Game button in-game while the player is alive to reduce bloating.
The mod is currently under alpha-testing, so bugs are to be expected. Please let me know of any issues and I'll try to fix them as soon as possible.
Credits
All credits for the ideas featured in this mod should go to Petethegoat and hardek for the creation of Continue and New Game Confirmation mods, respectively. This mod is only an attempt to modernize the aforementioned plugins. I used the original textures from Petethegoat for the textures of the Continue button, and the screenshots from Continue, so all credits about these assets should also go to them.
