Ald Redaynia is one of the most ancient settlements of Vvardenfell. It has been a prosperous saltrice farming community, with hundreds of citizens and large plantations, long before Lord Nerevar's time. It is a village with a rich history: this was the place where Minas Torik, the Morag Tong assassin began his career. It was also the place where the Urshilaku Ashlanders found the legendary Peakstar, as a baby, washed up at the shore of the village. The villagers are proud, because all throughout their history they could retain their independence, despite the ever-increasing influence of the Empire and the Great Houses. However, everything changed when a Telvanni wizard moved into the abandoned tower up on the hill. The people of the settlement followed the "live and let live" policy, because no Dunmer is foolish enough to trifle with the Telvanni. However, he conducted more and more dangerous experiments, terrorizing the population. The results are visible: most of the settlement is in ruins, and most of those who hadn't died, fled, with only the most stubborn remaining. The wizard is an undead skeleton now, still haunting that tower, and the people of Ald Redaynia live in constant fear of his wrath. Will you help the village get rid of its curse and use the opportunity to shape the future of this settlement?
This is my vision of the village of Ald Redaynia. I know that there are several Ald Redaynia mods out there already (hence the title of this mod), and I'm certain that most of them are better quality than mine, but this is my vision: an ancient settlement with a rich history that is now terrorized by the undead. The lore in this mod is based on the my understanding of Velothi culture, the story of Peakstar, the in-game book "The Axe Man." This is my first town mod, so I don't claim that it is better than most of the other Ald Redaynia mods, (as far as the settlement itself is concerned) but I think that the reason why you should try this one out too is the lore, the stories and the quests included with this one.
Features of this mod include:
- A restored Ald Redaynia: a once-prosperous Velothi settlement, which is now terrorized by the undead, with a few stubborn saltrice farmers and fishermen sticking around - 7 new NPCs - LGNPC-ish dialogue for these villagers, (unique backgrounds and personalities) everyone would have something unique to say - A main quest: Get rid of the Skeleton War-Wizard terrorizing the village and then choose which faction should the village pledge allegiance to: One of the Great Houses, or the Empire. A guard from your chosen faction will show up in the village, and you can enjoy the faction reputation of your chosen faction. - Three bounty hunter assignments: get rid of bad people (bandits, witches etc.) in the vicinity for a reward - Miscellaneous quest: Put the ghost of Minas Torik, cursed by the Skeleton War-Wizard, to rest (only available for Morag Tong assassins) - Some other miscellaneous quests: Exchange fishing stories with a Nord fisherman, win the heart of a Nord fisherwoman, help the Dunmer farmers with the harvest, find the missing wife of a villager - A bonus, non-journal quest (or rather, challenge) which you have to find on your own - The opportunity to acquire a (small) player home with a bed, a bookshelf and some modest storage - The mod should offer a clean, bug-free and lore-friendly experience
Compatibility:
Does the other mod modify the Ald Redaynia cell?
No. -> It's compatible. Yes, a lot. -> It's not compatible. Yes, a little. -> Might be compatible, you need to test if yourself, though.
What about your other mods "Main Quest Overhaul/Past Life Regressions?"
Those should be compatible, because they add an invisible activator to the Ald Redaynia cell. In fact, I highly recommend that you use one of them together with this mod, for an even more immersive experience!
