Does it use vanilla textures for the meshes? like, will it work with texture replacer/upscaler mods?

A quick guide for people who want this as a simple replacer for the original ebony helmet, instead of it being an additional helmet:

    • Delete (or don't activate) the .ESP file
    • Rename the file in "Meshes\a\" to "a_ebony_helmet.nif"
    • Rename the file in "Icons\a\" to "tx_ebony_helmet.dds"
Don't rename the file in "Textures" - Leave it as the default "tx_a_ebony_frogmouth_helm.dds" (It will still use this texture)

A surprisingly significant improvement to Morrowind's dorkiest uber-armor. Even just the bit of extra height complements the overall design better. I'd love to see an open helms version of this idea.

Thank you! I think the height and general shape might help to balance the overall set. Overall, the set feels a bit pear-shaped. Perhaps broadening the upper-arms & pauldrons would help as well.

I'd eventually like to work on an open helms version of this mod as well. In the meantime, I have been working on a burgonet design.

Agree on the visual imbalance and I think you succeeded! The shaped neck makes the 'head' look taller, even if the eye slits are essentially the same height. The vanilla design suffers a bit from pinhead syndrome; an npc would have a pretty difficult time breathing (if their head was still there). It's all well and good for Gaenor, but for non-hobbits yours looks much more grown-up. True, the pauldrons could be larger, or perhaps the skirt begins a bit lower but for me, you've pretty much fixed it.

The burgonet is a lovely model, gives off some age of Empires vibes.

I actually like vanilla Ebony helmet, but this is very based and frogpilled.

If I rename the mesh and delete the ESP, will this act as a replacer?

Very nice helmet! I'll rename the mesh and icon to make it a pluginless replacer since I love it so much (the original just looks too dorky). I would offer a pluginless replacer option since I imagine a lot of people would feel the same.
I suggest cleaning your ESP since it contains a lot of dirty edits, including the evil GMSTs.

This is a simple, but very much a neccessary touch up. I always reasoned the Ebony armor was 'imported' from places like High Rock, since it doesn't look native dunmer at all. This also makes sense since the ebony trade is monopolized by the Empire, which would make it illegal for native Dark Elfs to acquire and work the material themselves.

    Anyaway, great job!

This is great! Especially since the ebony set never felt very Dunmer, using a frogmouth style helm fits the set nicely!

edit: you should change the mod image to use the new helm, I think.
