Mod of the Day EP152 - The Buying Game Showcase
One of the most comprehensive overhauls for Morrowind's trading and mercantile system, today's Mod of the Day is The Buying Game by VitruvianGuar, a mod that not only makes the mercantile skill an actual worthwhile skill, but arguably makes it a vital one for anyone buying or selling items in Morrowind. The Buying Game changes quite a bit of Morrowind's bartering and trading systems, making it far more dependent on the mercantile skill, adding entirely new features for you to unlock as you increase your skill.
Now, if you have a low mercantile skill, you won't even be able to see the base values of various objects and items, but as you improve your skill, not only will you be able to learn the base value of items, but you'll also be able to take advantage of regional pricing, as some items will be cheaper in some regions and more expensive in others, depending on supply and demand. Not only that, but reach a high enough skill and you can invest in merchants, doubling their base bartering gold and expanding their stock, and even eventually unlocking the ability to trade with any NPC in the game for absolutely anything, giving you new ways to complete quests.
The Buying game includes a wide array of other features, including an overhaul of the inventory restocking system for merchants, making it possible to trade with merchants while carrying illegal items (so long as you don't try and sell them those illegal items), and making it so that personality, disposition, and faction rank all play a part in the prices that merchants will offer you. This is one of the best overhauls for Morrowind's mercantile system out there, and if you're looking to make the game a bit harder, economically speaking, while also making the mercantile skill more worthwhile, this is absolutely the mod for you!
