      I think it is for when NPC are blocking your path or where you are trying to go.

      There are times where NPCs block our paths, happens a lot on tight interiors.

   Would totally use it instead of Move or take my place if it had the move functionality.

      I was thinking that at first as well but then I discovered this works perfectly combined the "Move or take my Place".  I sometimes use 4 companions at once so I constantly use "Move or take my Place" to move around.  You can quickly move through a crowd of say 5 NPC's with a few quick clicks with this mod (Shift+Q) as long as you can highlight the NPC correctly.  If you ever get stuck and can't highlight the correct NPC to switch with then using the "Alt" key from "Move or take my place" works well to get you unstuck in addition to this mod.  I suggest trying to use both.
