My initial assumption before watching the video was that this mod is a standalone version of Ashfall's sitting animation (which is cross-legged). Maybe permission could be given to use that? Although it lacks an actual animation of getting into the sitting position, but I don't think that would matter to most people. I bet this would also solve the current incompatibility with beast races.
Wonderfully immersive mod, though I am wondering if anyone has encountered the following bug: When the squat is popped, Weapon Sheathing completely ceases to function. Is that an incompatibility between the two mods (Pop A Squat & Weapon Sheathing), or could it possibly be something else (i.e. MWSE build, mesh issues, et cetera)?
Does the Weapon Sheathing functionality return after you exit out of squatting, or does it remain broken? It's likely an incompatibility with the character skeleton between the two mods. I believe I'd have to modify the rig I used to include Weapon Sheathing attachment points. But this is just all conjecture on my part. I'll look into this but don't hold your breath, as I've said in the description, I'm an amateur and I'm learning all this as I go.
Hey, all the same (as an amateur) this is quality work you've made here. To answer your question: no, the functionality does not restore itself. I think your theory might be correct, if not close. Whatever the results going forward it's still a great mod. Keep it up!
