Any clue what might cause the needle to look so... round? It's not as detailed and angular as the images on your mod page, and I suspect it might be a mod conflict but I wouldn't know where to start. It's as if the rock meshes are being replaced somehow? But I don't run any of the usual rock replacer mods. Any suggestions?

Edit: seems to look like this without mods too.

Check your Meshes/f/terrain_rock_rm_24.nif for a replacer, but what you linked looks a lot like the vanilla mesh and texture.

I'm pretty sure my screenshots back then were using On The Rocks Lite and Vanilla Plus Purist Edition if that helps you any.

Ah, on the rocks must be why your rocks look different. That's too bad, because it conflicts with Tamriel Rebuilt. It might be worth listing that as a requirement, because without it the rocks look very unimpressive compared to your awesome screenshots.

      Thanks for your response!

Its still tall, which fulfils the entire premise and being able to find it by eye. Also, are you sure OTR has issues with TR? i've used them together and not noticed anything wrong at all.

I don't disagree with that statement, it is visible. However, it might help people who expect it to look like it does in the screenshots. As for incompatibility between OTR and TR, I'm simply following what both mods state. Which is that they are incompatible.

      https://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/incompatible-mods
      https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/46154

"However, all of these change the rock shapes, which leads to TR exteriors relying on the vanilla shape to block off certain paths or
doors or create holes in the landscape."

I wonder if it's worth duplicating the rock meshes and renaming them to make them unique to the needle formation, and then packaging them in the mod itself? I don't blame you if that's too much effort: the mod works as is, too. If I end up making the change myself one of these days I will definitely send you a message! Thanks for the mod.

If i was going down that route i'd probably want to find a completely unique rock mesh. I've seen a few in DR_Data and OAAB that might look good, but I feel like its a steep ask needing to instal a whole asset pack for 3 rocks.

I'm replying over a year in the future, but I think it's safe to say that most people installing mods nowadays are already using at least ONE or more mods that use OAAB Data.

    Good day, all.
Damius, thank you for the very useful mod. I understand, it is still dependent on OTR meshes, isn't it.
Without it, the rock doesn't look... seemly, so to say. I don't want to break TR by installing OTR.
Would you either create a version with standalone assets (renamed mentioned mesh / texture - if OTR keeper would allow, of course), or use MW's or TR's to provide compatibility.
I find "Meshes/f/terrain_rock_rm_24.nif" on my game file-set without installing OTR, so I think overwriting it from OTR distro may well break the lanscape without OTR.

Its not strictly dependant, just strongly advised. It looks slightly less pretty without, that's it. I've never had an issue with OTR and TR together, I think whatever incompatibility there was got fixed years ago or is so minor i've not noticed it in several years of play.

I really like the idea, my self I found disappointment in finding out that the eye of the needle was just a hill. Though I would suggest shrinking it a bit, now is really over the top. I would shrink it and maybe make the top a bit more pale as a "landmark", in the end, it says: "The skin of the pearl refers to a pale rock on the very top of the column."

Just my 2 cents! Keep flowing with your mods!

There is now a version under optionals attempting just that. Its about 1/4 shorter, and has a vaguely round bloodmoon rock perched on top. If I can find a rock resource with something a bit more pearl like I might replace it.

The height was matched to Tower of Vos/OAAb grazelands partly because I really like verticality, partly because I am awful at navigation. I once got a whole adventuring party lost up Red Mountain in Tes3Multiplayer.
