About this mod

Throughout the game, you receive visions of your previous life as Nerevar or as one of the failed incarnates (Ane Teria, Conoon Chodala, Erur-Dan, Hort Ledd, Idrenie Nerothan, Peakstar). The visions are triggered by visiting certain locations.

This mod makes it possible for your character to experience past life regressions (a state of remembering one's past lives), which I believe should have been in the vanilla game too, considering that the PC is the reincarnation of Lord Nerevar. In this mod, you can either relive the memories of Lord Nerevar himself, or the memories of one of the failed incarnates. (Ane Teria, Conoon Chodala, Erur-Dan, Hort Ledd, Idrenie Nerothan, Peakstar). The visions are triggered by visiting certain locations in the game. There will be altogether 16 visions for you to see, 9 connected to Lord Nerevar, 2 to Peakstar and 1 to each of the other failed incarnates. Don't worry, you will only see each vision once, so it won't appear again and again each time you visit a location.

This mod aims to be as lore-friendly as possible, however it expands upon lore presented by Bethesda which was not elaborated on further. For example (as you can also see it among the screenshots), in my vision, it was Dahrk Mezalf who warned the Chimer about Kagrenac's plan. (A story with which you might be familiar, if you've played my mod titled "The Tragedy of Dahrk Mezalf the Wise.") Bethesda lore neither confirms, nor denies that Dahrk Mezalf had such a role during the War Of the First Council, so in my view, it falls under the lore-friendly term to think that he did. Other pieces of information are taken over from my mod "After the Blight" as well as from my fan fiction "Alice in Vvardenfell."

Q: But are you really the reincarnation of Lord Nerevar? Some in-game sources suggest that you are just mantling this role with your actions!

A: Exactly, some sources suggest that, while others say that you are a legit reincarnation. Just like in any myth, the hero's agency vs. the inevitability of destiny as it is foretold by the prophecy is a theme. If you are convinced that the Nerevarine is just a "self-willed hero" (or a loyal servant of the Emperor) and the Nerevarine prophecies are not genuine, just don't play this mod.

Q: But would every character experience visions? I have an Orc Barbarian, not some wise monk!

A: I wanted to make the visions appear only if your character has a high enough mysticism skill first, but then I was reminded that EVERY character (regardless of class or race or anything) receives at least three visions during the game. (Chargen, Cavern of the Incarnate, End game.) So for now, every character receives these visions.

Q: Compatibility?

A: Everything should be fine. Even though this mod modifies certain cells, it only does by putting INVISIBLE activators there that would trigger the script that triggers the visions. Therefore, even mods like Morrowind Rebirth, that heavily modify a bunch of cells should be all right. The mod was also tested under the OpenMW engine, and no issues have been encountered. The mod should also be clean, and during the testing process no bugs have been encountered.
