I have done this before with flac files and it wasn't that hard. apparently you can also do this with .mp3s https://www.howtogeek.com/280739/can-you-losslessly-increase-the-volume-of-mp3-files/
I'm no audio expert by any means but you probably wont hear much without a decent pair of cans hooked up through a DAC anyway. If you turn the volume up you might hear certain sections a little more clearly but it will be very minut unless you listen very closely or have a trained ear.
i have to disagree, even when im using my lower end gear the difference is huge with morrowinds music, its just so crazy compressed by default you don't even really need a fancy dac or amp or pair of phones to appreciate, but of course it does help.
Hi, nice mod, but in the cutscene music folder the file called 'mw_intro' actually plays the track 'Fate's Quickening' rather than the music from the intro cutscene called 'Introduction'. Just thought I should let you know but other than that great mod
This mod doesn't have a cutscene folder, and the file you're referring to is a video. Must be from a different mod. Have you installed anything that replaces video?
Cool mod! I put this together myself a couple of times. There are some fully uncompressed flac and wav versions of the soundtrack floating around, but I could never get default Morrowind.exe to play them, they seem to play okay with OpenMW though.
Just thought I'd throw it in as a fun extra. The UESP says Soule composed it as a warm-up for the Skyrim OST; to get him back in the TES mood. His style did get a bit more dramatic/blockbuster-esque going from Morrowind to Oblivion to Skyrim.
Haha, thank you for this. Of course, I have replaced the music in my game a long time ago.
However, I may have to apologize to the author of the other mod, because I have downloaded Adobe Media Encoder, which he said he used, and it really does make the cutoff at 16kHz, even at 320kbit. The difference to a 128kbit file seems to be that it is somewhat more "dense", for the lack of a better word. I have no idea if this means it is objectively better or worse, and I've since learned that you can't actually tell how good the quality of a piece of music is just by looking at the spectrograms.

In any case, I trust these are alright.
But I have on-board sound and low-quality speakers. It might be more worthwhile for people with a better sound setup.
