@Nephiah Hi, I made an experimental version of your mod that extends support to Tamriel Rebuilt and ( https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/51216 ) + adds more music from Vindspevt or Witcher 3. Ill credit both you and Morthrung. Let me know if this bothers you and Ill remove it. Thank you.
Hey, thanks so much for letting me know! I'm glad you got some good use out of what I did here. It's no problem at all and I greatly appreciate the credit!
I works and I really like it, but it absolutely wrecks my fps. Centre of Balmora where I never go under 60, with this enabled I get 41. Disable it and I'm straight back up to 60. It's probably due to having Starfires npc mod too. There's just too many scripts going on. Such a shame as I miss dungeon music when I enter a dungeon :(
Sorry for the late reply, but yeah, unfortunately the overhead of having so many running scripts at once will eventually take a toll on performance.
I'm very happy to hear that you like playing with it, though, despite its shortcomings. Whenever I get around to returning to Morrowind modding, I'm gonna try to poke around more with this and see if I can improve it at all. That said, I'm hoping that future releases of OpenMW will render this entire project obsolete if we end up getting proper MWSE-like support.
Thank you for your kind words and feedback, I really appreciate it. :)
Really looking forward to lua maturing with OpenMW and people going nuts with mods! Anyway, thanks for the reply and for your hard work on the mod, much appreciated <3
Installation instructions for the original wod: the part c) Rename or delete Morrowind/Music/Explore and Morrowind/Music/Battle folders (for example to ExploreORIGINAL or Battle2).
won't work for "rename" but will work for "delete".
Cannot get this to work anymore. It was working, then I needed to do a new installation and POOF, cant get it working anymore.
Here's my process.
Fresh re-install of Morrowind and nightly OpenMW (f73aa9f27). Removing all remenants from last installation.
Place BMSR (1.2-Regular) in data files. Removing original Battle and Explore music from their folders (renaming the folders) and putting into main 'data files/music' folder with the new tracks.
Remove BMSR esp and replace with your omwaddon.
Launch OpenMW with omwaddon activated. Walk around Seyda Neen and take the bus around, old explore music still playing.
What am I doing wrong?
Appriciate any help and taking the time to make this in the first place. Like I said, it worked previously so I know it works.
EDIT: Completely removed the old explore and battle tracks, I did this before but I thought it just replaced all the music with the main menu track, however it does still play the new stuff.
I agree with ACNAero. Not having battle music also adds the need to look around, making surprise attacks from enemies a thing. In my opinion it really adds to the experience of the game. No more warning when a cliff racer is 50 meters away and closing! :P No more persistent battle music because a hidden mud crab was aggroed from behind a rock. I really like it!
I just wanted to say I've been playing with this for a while, and I thank you a bunch for it. And not only that, but also that even though the no combat music is a limitation, I actually love it like this because it lets the atmosphere of the ambiance shine through without ever being interrupted. So even if it's unintentional, i thank you double for it.
It's so nice to hear that you've had a good experience with this thing. Of course, I do think you should send Morthrug some love, it's their soundtrack that really makes this shine, I simply did the best I could with making it work, albeit with flaws, with OpenMW. I'm hoping that the OpenMW project will soon reach a state where this jury-rigged version of mine is rendered completely obsolete, but for now, thank you so much for the kind words and I hope you continue to have a ton of fun. :)
