I have a request : Is it possible to make this mod activate and stop with the combat music ? I configured it at max setting (4 000) but I am still close with certain ennemies (such as Netchs for example) before the mod works.
It works fine with close combat, but less with ranged combat.
I really wouldn't recommend linking it to the combat music or, more accurately, the "in combat" flag, as it can be very unreliable and you can end up miles away from any actual enemy and the game still thinks you're in combat. That's why I added the distance setting. But if 4000 is too short I can increase the max distance.
" you can end up miles away from any actual enemy and the game still thinks you're in combat." It's true you have to move away for a certain distance to end the combat music, but I don't find that too much lol
The issue is mainly for ranged combat where I still can access to my inventory while hitting ennemies on a long distance, even with max setting (4000).
It would be great if you could raise the distance or make an optional file to link the mod to the combat music ! But I don't know if other people would be interested in that too. I won't lie, I just wait for a new version of your mod to start a new game ^^
A fine difficulty mod, which significantly changes the way you play the game. To somewhat soften the blow, especially for spell casters, I suggest Hotkeys Extended, by Virnetch, as a complement to this mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/48055
I'm so torn between this and the MCP's patch that allows for looting unconscious enemies. Just discovered all your mods, love them all, looking forward to whatever you're replacing Frostwind with.
If the mod doesn't work for someone (it keeps popping up menu, while it shouldn't) turn off "responsive menu caching" in MGE XE --> in-game tab. It took me awhile to figure it out.
Forget what I just said, I was too quick to judge. Now after extensive testing, I find out that the real problem was this autosave tool: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/42340. It doesn't want to cooperate with your mod, which is strange, because all other MWSE stuff is working fine for me. Can you or someone else tell if this is happening to you also? Still if I have to choose, i'd go with this mod...been dreaming about something like this for a long time, great work.
There's a way around the menu restriction, if you're fast enough, at least for me. If I open and close the game menu (with escape key), there's a fraction of a second window in which I can open the inventory after I close the escape menu.
A good enhancement might be to disable that main menu too?
But this is a great mod. Combined with Restrictive Saving it really creates a tension and sense of nervousness and trepidation while exploring.
Edit: Also, I'm able to change my quick keys while in combat.

It would be nice if you could blacklist creatures/NPCs from causing the menu to be disabled.
Asking bc I'd like to blacklist the training dummies from this mod: http://mw.modhistory.com/download-35-1431
