In my opinion, this mod made the item even more OP. You can wait until the sun goes down and then fight. Its tedious, yes, but atleast fighting with the mantle out of light gives it the dark/evil/necromantic vibes for its user.
At higher levels, the elemental weaknesses becomes insignificant. Unless youre hardcore roleplaying, theres no reason to be afraid about elemental weaknesses.
I would substitute those weaknesses with something like damage/drain fatigue every second, or weakness to normal weapons 100-200%.
