Why exactly is Sadrith Mora Alterations recommended? And is the optional file you put in for that unused mesh really necessary to use Sadrith Mora Alterations with OpenMW?
Think I recommended it just because I liked the mod. Pretty sure the mesh was necessary at the time, though more progress might have been made on the OpenMW mesh front since then.
I see, I asked about it because the text was a bit confusing. Would it be possible for you to review it and the changes made since to the mod(s) in question in OpenMW, and correct any outdated info? Thanks.
It makes some small but very lore friendly changes to Sadrith Mora NPCs. Services will be restricted to you until you buy the Hospitality Papers, which are so uniportant in the base game I never knew they existed until this mod. It also adds new voice lines to the local guards, sneeringly reminding you to get the papers. It's the official male dunmer voice actor and blends in with the vanilla voice lines perfectly. Seriously, this is one of the most subtle mods on the nexus - and I love it.
Has the NPCs dialogues regarding the price of the papers has been altered to match the new 50 gold price? I don't want to see NPCs talking about how the papers cost 25 gold when now it's actually 50
Dialogue isn't filtered correctly, the owner of dirty muriel's for example states that the papers cost 25 gold, the journal state 50 gold and the actual price is 250 gold. Please fix this.
Had a look and couldn't see any evidence of this in the CS. Muriel Sette doesn't have any lines that mention the cost of the papers as far as I can tell. Perhaps a conflict with another mod?
Sadrith Mora closed city sounds like the most likely candidate. If so then it seems like someone needs to update the patch. Chances of me doing it are slim to nill if I’m being honest :D
Yeah I might have gone a bit far with the compression. Jeff Baker did his best to recreate the effects used on the originals but I don’t think he was the one who originally did it. He remembered compression being one of the effects used as well as pitch-shift but what he sent me was under-compressed compared to vanilla and that combined with him using Logic’s built in pitch shift which is designed for music left the lines lacking the resonance of the vanilla lines. Not having Morrowind on my studio computer meant I had to make do with Audacity to try and fix things. I went in and out of game comparing them with the vanilla dialogue, tweaking pitch, EQ and compression and blending in un-edited words from vanilla until it sounded right (at least in OpenMW). I was comparing with the most compressed, most resonant vanilla lines out of game, as well as other lines in-game because I found if I matched up with others then the new ones fell a bit flat.
If you’re a sound engineer would you be interested in having the original file he sent to see if you could match it up better?
Thanks for all your work, I have several of your fix series in place! On this one I got to wait though, I'm not affiliated to Telvanni but I have been already nominated Hortator. Would be strange to have the papers asked at that point.
I played around with this for a while, and I like it so far.
My only feedback would be adding a bit more variety to the service refusal lines. They're too... nice, especially for Telvanni kin/retainers/whatever these people are. Disposition at <=25 gets you bluntly told that "no papers, no service"; else, everyone tells you "excuse me, sera"... It's a rather sudden shift -- "sera" is respectful, isn't it? -- and doesn't really reflect the wide range between 26 and 100 disposition. I think the current "excuse me, sera" line should be the one for the higher dispositions (>=75?), and something progressively less courteous as you go down. Maybe you can keep "no papers no service" for <=25, add new lines for the range between 26 to 50 and 50 to 74, and finish with "excuse me sera" at >=75. Or whatever you want.
(Also, isn't "sera" generally female and "muthsera" the generally male equivalent? Or am I wrong?)
Thanks for the feedback Bludwurst! I'm working on an update to add more variety to the guard's audio lines so I'll take a look at the service refusal lines as well. :)

@SpaceDevo: Ah. I see. That's an odd thing to apparently retcon...
EDIT: Nevermind I see this is already available :D.... Thanks Poodle you are the best!
EDIT 2: Frickin AMAZING that you got Jeff Baker doing the lines!!
