About this mod

The Puzzle Canal was such a disappointment. With this plug-in, it becomes everything you were afraid it might be. Search the 5th level of the Puzzle Canal again to start this adventure. Not recommended for low level characters. (Or the faint of heart.)

The Puzzle Canal

Changes:

Only a little litter and a door was added to the existing Puzzle Canal Level 5.   Nothing else in the existing game was changed.  The main game won't be affected in any way.   I used TESAME extensively to ensure a clean mod and polished it 'til it shines.  If you find any bugs, please let me know:  [email protected]

*****************

Just unzip the .esp file into the Morrowind\data files folder.  Then in the launcher, select data files and double click on Puzzle Canal.esp and then click on OK.  -  That's it.
*****************

Although there are several unique artifacts/weapons, I tried not to exceed anything that couldn't already be found in the game.  There are 2 main exceptions.  Even these aren't too overboard.

*****************

I remember hearing the rumors about the Puzzle Canal in Vivec.  Something about dark corridors, valuable artifacts, and daedric servants as guards.  I waited and waited until I felt my character was finally strong enough to attempt the Puzzle Canal.  What a disappointment.  No dark corridors, no artifacts, and one tame daedra.

This plug-in attempts to correct that situation.  You will need to search the bottom level of the existing Puzzle Canal again to find your way into the depths.  There, you will find everything the rumors spoke of, and more.

I learned that it's hard making something that's fun for  powergamers and not totally overwhelming for everyone else.  This mod is pretty much down the middle.  It's built for characters in the level 20 plus category, and can still be tough for them if you aren't thinking. Course this also depends on what kind of character you play.   My current character is a level 32 wood elf thief and she has no problems as long as I'm careful.  She's died a few times when I got careless.(And I knew what was coming!)  A character in the 10-20 range might make it if you are very careful, have good armor, lots of ranged weapons/magic and a way to hide.  There are a LOT of daedra and some of them have been modified.

Although it shouldn't be necessary, I am going to include a hints.txt file for the few places you might have some trouble.  You should really try to figure things out for yourself before you read them.

I hope you have as much fun playing this as I had making it.
