I guess I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what. I'm using OpenMW. When I extract the file to the Data Files folder in Morrowind like the mod says, it doesn't do anything in game. The sparkles are still there. Not sure what to do.
I was really looking forward to this, because, I can't use any shields because of the 1st person sparklies flying all over.
But, I can't get this to work! I manually replaced the 4 files in meshes\e. Is there more to it than that? I'm new to this game, so is there a setting I need to change or some step I'm missing? I've got the GOTY GOG version. I don't have the Morrowind Code Patch yet, and no big mods that change anything. Still seeing the sparkles in 1st and 3rd person. Can't wait to use some magical shields lol.
Can someone help? Thanks!
Edit: I figured it out! lol. I guess you do learn more when you have to research stuff :-) For anyone else that may have this "issue", the GOG version of this game has a setting in the Morrowind ini file that by default tells the game to use a newer loose mesh/texture files instead of the BSA. Well, TryArchiveFirst=0 was set correctly to try newer loose files, but when you overwrite the files with this mod's files, the dates are 2018. Apparently, that is older instead of newer according to my game. SO.. I opened each of the 4 mesh files from this mod in nifscope, changed something, then changed it back so I didn't screw anything up, and saved the files, updating the files to today's date. I replaced the "old" files with these new ones, and wala - now the game is reading the new loose files from this mod as intended as I'm just seeing the bubble, but not the sparkles!
I probably overcomplicated this, but the mod works perfectly! Thanks so much for making my game better, and teaching me something lol. Cheers.
PS, just installed the code patch and it dates the bsa file to 2002 so I won't have this happen again. I read only the steam version needed this.. doh
big agree on mod organizer 2. no matter how lazy you are or how hard or hassle you think it is, no matter whether you think what you're using atm is good enough or close enough, just get it and use it and transfer whatever mods you have over to there. it's infinitely better with how it partitions every mod instead of dealing with overwrite memes.
This mod looks good. The only reason I never used or made an item with a constant shield is because dislike the first person effects. There is another mod that also removes the sparkles but it also removed all other shield effects. that mod is not ideal for me because I still want to know when an enemy is using a shield spell.
Hey, it also works on any other item that has a 'shield' enchantment. I have boots that have a permanent 'lightning shield' entchantment that gave me this constant annoying shimmer with lightbulbs floating around me in first person and now it's gone. I still have the effects in third person but I only use that for selfie screenshots anyway.

Truly, this is one of the most satisfying mods out there.
