hello there, thanks for this amazing guide :) i do notice however, that a succesful boot in 4k DSR is a coin toss. it either boots boots perfectly, or it starts up with a black screen and tabs out. and when i tab in, it shuts down instantly. definitely some stability issues right there. any advice?
Appreciate this guide, even if some people have some technical criticisms of it. This is pretty much the only place that I've found an in depth distant land generation guide, kinda surprising that isn't more available
how did you get your hd textures on maps and stuff? did you also use mge xe cos I can't find any option to improve the texture in mge xe, I only found it from it's previous version mge and it wasn't compatible with mswe so I switched to xe.
Unfortunately the "Antialiasing-transparency" in the Nvidia Control Panel for both the Morrowind launcher and exe is greyed out, so I can't change it. Is it essential?
It also only uses your GPU, the reason the author of the guide suggests using DSR to get 4k resolution and downscale to what you have is because he probably thinks using the anti aliasing would hurt performance, but it does not so long you have a decent gpu, the gpu of which morrowind barely uses outside of MGXE.
I like to read performance guides and basically any intelligent topics on performance in morrowind, and i must say.
Honestly this performance guide is incredibly mediocre and i don't recommend following it.
Performance in morrowind and all bethesda games really is dictated by the amount of draw calls used for the scene, using this like project atlas and the morrowind optimization mod is what will help performance as they aim to decrease draw calls without decreasing anything visually.
But outside of that, for what was the case before those mods came around, is decreasing view distance, as that decreases draw calls, also setting the process cpu affinity of all the processes on your pc to not use core 0 and 1, also helps, process lasso is great for goals like that.
A 1060 isn't exactly 'High-End'. It's pretty decent, sure, but NOT high-end. Plus, since you're an NVidia user, there's too much emphasis on that brand and its software. I myself have an AMD Vega64.
Must add that there's a lot of settings that are no longer avilable in MGE XE 0.11.6 (the latest version and the one I'm using) so you might want to update (both MGE XE and the guide) if you're still playing the game.
I'll endorse anyway because such guidelines as these are always welcome.
You have to have it activated in the 3D settings in Nvidia control panel. Enable all custom resolutions and make sure in MGE XE it's under the 4k resolution and fullscreen. Have all the .exe's running as admin and in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. But even with all that I still can't get it to work. I keep getting a "Creation Error". But if I run it borderless windowed it opens but it's huge. Can anyone help?
It mentions marking SSAO HQ for interiors only and SSAO Fast for exteriors; I get that you need to use the editor, but what/where are the flags you add/change for that in the files?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it, I'm an i
Can someone explain how to do this please? Thanks
Also, I didn't realise my post on the Mod page would be mirrored here. Apologies for the double post.
