The "Glass" used to make Glass armor and weapons isn't actually glass, it's apparently similar to ebony if the in-game descriptions are anything to go by.

Yeah, they're both different forms of volcanic glass.

Volcanic glass is -super strong- in the Elder Scrolls world.

Still, adamantium isn't a normal metal/glass/ore/crap in the first place, plus, like Masna said, it's a medium armor while glass is light, and medium should always be better than light if they are the same tier. (And adamantium was a higher tier than glass anyway.)

I think the more in-lore reason why Glass armor is classed as the highest-end light material armor is due less to its material and more its origin. It's like how Ebony outclasses just about everything except Daedric on the heavy side of things - they both come almost purely from the Red Mountain, and Ebony has been described in-universe as essentially the blood of the god Lorkhan, and given where you find his Heart, well...

What I'm getting at, is that if Ebony is the crystallized blood of Lorkhan, perhaps Glass could be considered the crystallized blood-plasma?

I wonder why they didn't just have people call it malachite, there's no other material in the game that they gave a random slang name to. on the other hand that's part of the charm.

glass is just what people call malachite, for whatever reason. it was a weird lore decision but that's how it be.

As was already mentioned, this doesn't really make sense from a lore perspective, but it makes even less sense from a gameplay perspective. Adamantium is NOT the highest tier medium armor in the game, Ice/Stalhrim Armor is. In fact, even Indoril armor is better than Adamantium in terms of armor rating. Ice armor is the roughly the same tier, but better than Glass Armor.

I never said it was the highest tier. I just said it was a better tier than glass. And besides tiers, it's rarer, and heavier, than glass, and therefor should be better.

It's not a higher tier than glass (if you can even put them into "tiers" in the first place), that's the point and that's why it doesn't make sense for it to be better than glass, despite being heavier. Rarity shouldn't really matter, either. Ebony armor isn't all that rare and yet it's the second best heavy armor in the game.

It just never made any sense to me. Glass can be found utterly everywhere (I've found more Glass loot than a lot of newbie stuff.) while i've never found a single piece of Adamantium stuff except two bracers at a shop.

Normally, there's no point in Adamantium armor, despite it's rarity and weight. That's why i made the mod. I just really like Adamantium and so i'm forcing it to be better than Glass, because that's what i believe it should be.

Glass may be one of the best Light armors, but that's the thing, if you're going light you're sacrificing armor rating. Adamantium is one of the better Medium armors, and should be slightly better than Glass.

I think this makes sense, if not from a lore prospective, at least because medium armor should be better than light armor.
