As a web designer who happens to like the new site update (took getting used to after using the old design but it's far superior in many ways), I'd tell that mudcrab to shut up before turning him into a nice meal.
It employs "mobile first" paradigms which I personally hate. Nexus, like other sites, is now punishing people using anything other than smartphones. YMMV of course.
God yes, mobile development is the worst for desktop users, and it's spreading to sites that you would never use on a phone. Like this one. I clicked to switch top the new layout and immediately went NOPE and straight back to the old.
As a person who loathes smartphones and browsing websites through shitty small smarthphone screens, I actually really like the new theme. The old theme looked like something out of WindowsXP, but this one is nice and clean. All the buttons and text are left unmoved, minus the mod banner being all the way at the top. The only thing I realy, REALY HATE, is that game specific backgrounds are replaced with a shitty generic Skyrim background or adds.
Well that will go away eventually. I wish it didn't. I'm down with a redesign but this site didn't need ti yet. It didnt feel dated yet nor was the current site hard to use. In fact this current iteration is really good.
I could of seen a modification of the current design with a wider mod page area and more use of the screen to adjust to modern screens since most people have at least a 21 inch now. But it's like the designer ate the apple store and the windows store and vomited out a hard to use, unintuitive site with a weaker search engine.
Well hopefully someone starts a new site that hosts mods ore people start using moddb more. Lack of competition has made the direction of this site piss poor.
It's pretty bad, but it's not like anyone's ever going to see a single cent of ad revenue from me or manage to successfully deliver malware to me through all of the countless untrustworthy sites they associate with, so I'm okay with it. Better modding sites sunk into obscurity and were replaced before, it's their ship to sink, why not just let them drown? That's what I'd do, I'd let them drown.
I could tolerate the visual changes but on a technical side the site overall seems much slower especially for the search features and that is a dealbreaker.

thankfully you can fix it for now by replacing 'www.' with 'old.'
