This should be a great mod to combine with Better Governing Attributes by Androl in order to create a vanilla friendly but more authentic roleplaying experience. Have to give this a go on a new character.

If you want to level up as high as possible, this mod still doesnt change the fact that you should only choose major and minor skills that are NOT present in your specialization (as these are increased by 5 points from start) or those gained from you race skill bonus.

That's hilariously bad advice for new players tho. If you're new to MW, stack skills as high as they'll go when you create your character. Otherwise the early game is gonna be pure misery. You're gonna cross the inevitable power threshold at which your character turns into an unstoppable monster anyway.

This mod is fantastic in how much it limits powergaming and I really appreciate the simple change. Thanks!

Made an account just to say thanks for this simple mod. Being able to get x5 through cheap misc skill training began to make my character feel way too overpowered to quickly, not to mention it began to break my character's class immersion and made major and minor skills feel like hindrances . Every other leveling mod is too convoluted, does not address balancing and in fact most make your character even more overpowered.

When I did research and found that originally vanilla morrowind misc skills did not provide attribute multipliers, I realized this was the way the game was meant to be played. Unfortunately this was patched out but thankfully this mod is here. This fixes the ability to again provide you with unique class based experienced as was originally intended for the game.

This is the simplest and finest leveling mod, as far as I'm concerned. I'm astonished that nobody thought to do this before, it goes a long way toward making every character (especially those using the stock prebuilt classes) feel unique in their strengths and weaknesses. It's a shame this mod isn't more widely known and used. Excellent job, thank you so much for doing this.

good stuff, will go well with that other mod that prohibits manual evelling of misc or minor skills!

    i have some questions, however:
    1. "You'll have 7 attribute points to spend per level" - is this guaranteed? because, as far as i know, in vanilla Morrowind, without levelling misc skills, player could have more or less than 7 points per levelup: levelling skills 4,4 and 2 times will grant the lowest stat gains - +2, +2, +2 for 6 points total. and levelling skills 8, 1, 1 times will grant +4, +2, +2 points for a total of 8 points per level.
    2. is it compatible with mods that change skill leveling speed?
    3. is it compatible with uncapper mods?

and finally, some extra things i'd like to see - there are mods that does one or ther other of the following, but they also add a lot of other conflicting changes:
    1. 1 skill levelup = 1 attribute point on levelup - up to 10 per level. reasoning: so the player won't have to worry about levelling "the right" skills for raising attributes, as described above.
    2. uncapped attributes if other mods are not compatible with this one. reasoning: to give incentive for picking multiple weapon or armor skills.
    3. adopt "normalized" skill levelling speeds from any of the several rebalance mods so that player won't be stuck with grinding those few low leveled skills once all other ones are maxed out.

again, thank you for creating this mod, i believe this may be the thing that will break my habit of falling back to exactly the same set of auxiliary skills even when i don't pick them as major or minor ones.

The 7 is an average, I suppose you could min max and pull an 8 or end up with a 6, but usually it is 7.

1.) That's probably possible but not something I am interested in doing, I like having some goals within the leveling system and how skills and attributes are linked.

2&3.) This mod is compatible with literally everything that doesn't touch minor skill attribute modifiers, which to my knowledge is no other mod anyway.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I've been out of the loop for a while and Nexus notifications are janky at best.

This looks very interesting. I'll try it on my playthrough and see how it works out. (Though perhaps one could make the Misc. skills have a negligible impact, sort of like 10 Misc advances equals 1 multiplier point.)
