Please post some pictures of how it looks in game, if you just show a blue image beside a regular texture than nobody would really know what to expect.
You kind of do need images for that. The people who look at this and haven't heard of a Normal Map would have no idea how it make things different. Plus there's another normal map texture pack for the velothi tile set, you need images of your mod in action so people can compare and contrast quickly and decide which one they would like. I know that these images may be enough for you, but it's much better for people to actually see it in action, rather than just having textures and a blue image beside it. Plus it makes people more inclined to download your mod if they know what to expect and see how it improves their experience playing the game.
I just had a look at them ingame and can't say that I like them at all. Apart from the fact that they are not compressed and eat more memory than is desirable, they also look like paper and have no real depth whatsoever. It looks like they were just run through an automated filter.
Edit: I also uploaded a screenshot so you can form your own opinion. Also notice how some of the normal maps don't correctly line up. I thought it was just a lighting anomaly at first, but this doesn't happen with other normal mapped replacers, which leads me to believe that the normal maps here are to blame.
Edit 2: Huh, the screenshot might need verification first.
I don't even need to look at an ingame screenshot to see that some of these won't look right. So yes, I guess they're just generated from diffuse without thinking about the actual shape of things.
Sorry DaggerfallTeam, no offence, but I'd say these are too rushed. Nice to see people making use of OpenMW's new shaders though.
Thank you very much for this, it's great to see the Morrowind modding community still being active ! May I ask how you create your normal map based on the diff ? I may have to create some myself soon.
Could you provide more details on your workflow ? Do you use Nvidia's normal map filter or something else ? Sorry for all the questions, I hope you don't mind answering them .
