There is no 'Unregister Filter(s)' button in the InstalledCodec program, only enable or disable. I suppose you mean ' Disable Selected Items' instead ?
it's actually more the opposide of what you wrote. Morrowind uses Bink, yes. But it uses the APi (BinkW32.DLL) that comes with it. There is no official Codec for Smacker or Bink. The problem is the render target which is influenced by installed filters that can try to enforce the use of a codec, sometimes even the wrong one.
So if there is an error based on a program trying to decode Bink, QuickTime or w/e, then it's mostlikely caused by installed filters like FFDShow and the like which try to take over to decode the requested media. This happened in the X series from Egosoft with it's QuickTime movies and all that was needed to fix it, was adding the games executable to the blacklist in FFDShow or w/e filter you may use so one does not have to uninstall/unregister codecs or splitters.
So if a filter is now able to actually decode Bink or Smacker - while those formats are still closed source so free implementations are still kinda buggy as MPHC shows - the software that uses one of those formats needs to be added to the blacklist of the used filter.
Unregistering w/e is installed should only be done if there's no other way.
General recommendation: Don't install Codec Packs. MPHC and VLC come with stand-alone filters so nothing interferres. if one for some reason prefers Media Player then there are consequences that have to be dealt with.
Like really?! I thought that Morrowind crashing sometimes on exit is normal. Also because my saves sometimes crash on load I started to make 2 of the same before exiting game. Repairing saves did not work for them. Hmm... Is it safe to disable these? No other program needs them?
*EDIT* Well, tried it out. No changes. Got a crash on exit.

So...I should delete this mod/info?? Or could it be helpful to some users?
