Maybe I'm just too Newb for this, but with this activated, elone the scout says ... ... (she is unable to speak, for the sake of argument) and she greets me again with my name, as she does after a regular 2nd greeting, how can I get the first greeting with this mod activated? I use morrowind codepacht with talked to pc check off in the settings
This file is modified from BTB's edited file right? I'm asking because the original script (the one HotFusion made) didn't fire for me when talking to merchants, even on a brand new save, for some reason I don't know. BTB's edited file solved that problem.
edit: ok that seems to be the case. Finally I got a working merchant skills mod! Also I like the new formula better.
I just checked out JDs "EcoAdjMerchantSkills_Script-Tweak.esp". It was to stop the script lowering the mercantile skill of some merchants. I had accounted for that bug with my adjustments to the script, so don't use it with this mod.
It is essentially Economy Adjuster - Merchant Skills, just been expanded to include all the PCs it missed out that needed special attention, plus fixing a few bugs. You shouldn't try to use both together.
I have used it with MCP with no problems.
It uses a Greeting dialogue, so it shouldn't matter if the 'Talked to PC' flag is set at the beginning of the end of the dialogue. It does seem to trigger at times other than the first time you speak to a merchant, but since it is so unobtrusive and would only reset their skill to where it should be, doesn't seem to cause a problem.
I'll have to check the 'tweak' out and see if it something useful to incorporate, but you shouldn't really use it with this mod - it would overwrite the script in this mod as I didn't change the name.
How does this play with the MCP tweak 'Talked to PC' extension??
Info:
"Changes the 'Talked to PC' dialog flag to only be set when you say goodbye to an NPC.
In vanilla Morrowind, the 'Talked to PC' dialog flag was set just after the greeting. This only allowed greetings to check this flag, and any topics selected afterwards would never see 'Talked to PC' equal to 0. Delaying this until you say goodbye allows alternative responses to topics, when interacting with an NPC for the first time. There are a few for the 'little advice' topic in the vanilla game.
This will cause dialogue problems with the very few mods that use multiple greetings to run scripts. e.g. Economy Adjuster - Merchant Skills. If you notice a greeting that loops forever, you should turn this option off."
There are some similarities to the BtB Edits, but I have included quite a number of NPCs that BTB missed that needed special treatment. Also the Formula for calculating the Mercantile and Speechcraft skills have been altered. In the original version, the skills of some NPCs were actually reduced by the formula.
