1 year since it's release, The Skyrim Ui Overhaul mod for Morrowind continues to be the top UI mod on the Nexus site with over 1000 endorsements and more than 25,000 total downloads. You guys are a testament that this community and this game are still going strong.
I want to thank everyone for their support on this mod and all of the other mods and texture packs I've released. While I'm currently on hiatus from modding, I do have a few more works in progress up my sleeve that I plan to release in the future.
funny enough I forgot all about skyrims menus and how bad they were because I installed skyui very early on when the game was released. low key I never took issue with the morrowind ui because it was simple and effecient, on the other hand the game itself was simple too so you didnt have a bunch of 3d stuff to worry about.
Hello! If any of you are like me and wanted to use this with OpenMW this definitely works, but it took me a bit to find which config needed to be edited to enable the changes to font colors. The easiest way is to change your original installation's Morrowind.ini and import the settings through the OpenMW launcher. However, I was screwing around with disabling the morrowind_logo.bik for this mod specifically since the transition was no longer seamless.
The reason colors don't change is because of how OpenMW is prepared to receive information which it expects from the original .ini file. Importing settings through the launcher creates a series of entries in the openmw.cfg file according to the section a setting fell under. For example:
`[Fonts] Font 0 = magic_cards_regular Font 1 = century_gothic_font_regular Font 2 = daedric_font`
So you can either change the corresponding entries directly in openmw.cfg (like me, a buffoon) or do it the easy way. I'd come up with some cool techy excuse like 'I didn't want to change the font colors for my vanilla Morrowind' but I could've just imported and then restored the original settings, so... ¯\_(?)_/¯
Anyway if you're interested in removing the Morrowind logo movie like I was just remove `fallback=Movies_Morrowind_Logo,mw_logo.bik` from openmw.cfg. I would recommend backing it up but I'm a degenerate and always ignored those warnings ever since I first started modding. (Plus it's a fallback to your Morrowind.ini so technically if that's unchanged it's already backed up.)
For anyone as dumb as I am go into OpenMW Launcher after making INI edits in your root folder and click the big button along the lines of "import settings" Thank you btw^
@mikeandike Hey I have a question. I installed everything manually in the textures folder, but I noticed that all the original texture files are still there right next to the new ones, probably because the old ones are .bmp while the new ones are .dds or whatever. If there's no .esp file, how will the game know to select the new ones?
you didnt even ask a question. just stated proof of your ignorance. and you gave dude like 2 days to answer. these are modder that have lives and this mod is old AF. You expect someone to hop skippity do to your whim and solve your problem on a 8 year old mod? and then gonna hit that dislike button like someone cares. you sure gotem good with that one!
I cannot figure out how to get this to work. I put the Textures where they should go in Data Files, I replace the Font section of the ini file, and... nothing. Except for changing the gold pause text to grey (except "Mod Options," which stays gold), there are absolutely no changes to the UI. And yes, I did install the Code Patch and MGE XE first. And when I tried to remove this mod's component parts, MGE XE broke and I now need a fresh install to reapply the Code Patch and MGE XE again.
Main menu changed, as well as load screens, but in game inventory font and color is the same as vanilla. I copied the ini font into as instructions say. Just doesn't work.
Just started playing Morrowind again - I have installed most of the Top 20 or so mods along with a couple of others. Including this Skyrim UI. However one thing continues to ANNOY me about this game..... HOW do I COMPARE stuff I am about to equip with the stuff I am already wearing? I read in a few places that if you hover over the item in your inventory - it is supposed to show some stat differences (better/worse/green/red) but I have not seen this in Morrowind yet. And if you try and buy something from a merchant - there appears to be no way to instantly compare the difference either.
And there don't appear to be any mods that I have come across that fix this issue? I have searched and found nothing on item equip compares. After a few weeks of playing I have pages-and-pages of stuff but I have to compare them manually to the equipment I am wearing when I want to swap. Which is becoming painful.
Surely there is a better way to do this? Am I doing something wrong ? Have one of the mods I installed upset this so-called hover-comparison? If I hover over a New Weapon either in the inventory or from a merchant - I do not see anything else change on the screen - or anything that tells me the difference between the weapons unless I manually read both of them, and mentally calculate the difference. WTF!
Hello, Maybe this is what you need. You need to be using MGE XE for that to work though. Meaning if you are using openMW that will not work. Hope this helps. Have a good day
