I don't understand what the book is supposed to be. I've read every book in the secret library and none of them are doing anything.

vn_necromancy book scriptDepending on where you are emulating Morrorwind, the Livre may have fallen into the game's void, in mine it always goes to void so I have to use the Additem or setpositioncell command

With the update, vampirism attributes are permanently added upon transforming into a lich, obviously an oversight?

Não What is to be done after completing the ritual? I became a lich, but I can't get out of the phylactery.

You should be able to turn to the wall opposite the altar containing the lich equipment and exit through the door.

This can happen if you drop the Phylactery in a spot that was added for a Mod.

      Thank you.

Yo, I'm making a patch that makes some things easier to do in Lichcraft, is that cool for me to upload when finished? 'Course I won't take any credit for the OG mod, I'm just some feral ape who stared at the values of the mod hard enough that they started to change and switch.

Hey madgamer98, first off thanks for keeping this mod afloat!  It's one of my favorite through the years and has a lot of neat features.  I noticed a couple of small issues in the vampire lich experience.  I have a modified version of the vh patch that fixes both of them that I'd be happy to send you if you want.

    1) The vn_power_ritual_success script's messagebox to display the avenue progression doesn't show vampire progression if you're a vampire lich (a quick if statement to fix)

    2) Getting the daywalker vampire power doesn't stop sun damage from vampiric hunger, as that is handled by a script instead of the usual sun damage spell effect.  This one has a bit more variety to fix, but it seemed like the most performant option was to modify the branch of vn_power_ritual_success where the daywalker power is granted to also set the VH_SunDamage script's ForceStop variable to 1, since that script already has some nice graceful exit logic based on that variable.

Necrocraft has its own issues, as well as some incorrect info in the mod itself(bad quest directions, mainly), and lacks the compatability with most of things people use Lichcraft for(Uvirith's Legacy, Illuminated Order, etc), but  its a decent enough mod. It really depends on your modlist, and what you're hoping to get out of it. Necrocraft is more heavily focused on the Necromancy side of things, while Lichcraft focuses more on the Lichdom side of things.

Having said all that, Lichcraft is kindof a mess, and the power rituals are exceptionally annoying. If you're playing on MWSE, Necrocraft may work better for you, but Lichcraft and/or Illuminated Order are you options for OpenMW. There's another Lich mod for OpenMW, but its missing some of the Lich powers(spellcraft and enchantcraft), so im not a fan of it exactly. But really, its up to you. Try the different mods out, and find what you like.

This is my review of the mod. I truly hope the mod is left to rot because the amount of fixing that must be doneis so high that it was
frankly disrespectful by the mod author releasing it in his current shape or form. Only thing it gave me was the fit of frustrations (I will not say
rage because I chose this poison myself) and as such I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOD

I feel truly sorry for Madgamer98. He is trying torepair a damaged ship that has a lot of different holes that must be fixed before the mod even start becoming remotely decent.

Said this, I will explain for all the people that are curious with a very long review describing everything. Suffice to say, what I frankly find embarassing is that no one even bothered to report any of the bugs I’ve met, while they are clearly there. You can choose if it was out of lazyness, or
because there is only me and Madgamer98 playing this mod. But before the review, my active mod list:

    The review contains spoilers.

First of all, the mod requires you to leave for Solsteim (to get some berries) and Mournhold (to get Adamantine ore and some other plants), so you cannot become a lich in Vvanderfell. This is the first thing I dislike about this mod, because you should be able to become a lich at worst in mid-game, so you can actually enjoy the experience of being a lich in the expansions.

The procedure requires you not to have on yourself health-regenerating items (first bug) I’ve met, because otherwise it fails. Once you are inside you are bombarded with debug messages that shouldn’t be there to start, or at least they should be invisibile. The fact that GCD (or is it mad Leveller?) is not installed is not something I care about, just let the mod do his magic in the background, do not show me these debug messages because they take me out of the game.

Once you become a lich, you get teleported to your philactery and you lose 20 levels. In the philactery you are going to find the following lootable items (who made them? They are just there without explanations. The philactery is built by a smith you find in Mournhold, but it’s not like he actually put these items there because you’ve asked him):
    - crowns,
    - a lunar item (you use it to detect the Lunar phases – will expand this part later)

You also find a non lootable item to scry where certain items, needed to improve your lich transformation, are.

You automatically get in your inventory:
    - an item to place a lair
    - two (or three?) books that are automatically added to your inventory, so rather than feel organically merged into the world, you are just getting items out of nowhere. Why are these things here is something you will never know.

Said this, your adventure as a lich starts. There are at least more or less 10 bugs that I’ve met, there are surely more because I wasn’t able to experience the whole mod due to bugs.

    - Lich: You get some spells, including disguise true nature and revert to lich form.
My issue is that you simply get the spells and they are not explained at all.
While the two I’ve mentioned are clear (you know what they do), what about the others? Maybe I missed something, but I simply do not care.

The same thing happens with the crown, what is it for? In the end you discover it that you are supposed to cast the spell “mystic enchant” on it (note: casting mystic enchant on the crown gives you another BUG with a load of different error messages and the crown doesn’t work).

    - Said this, you level up as a lich, and after 5 levels you have to use power rituals (simply casting the spell "power induction" three times in three different days at the same hour with a full moon while being between 2 special skulls). The full moon (or when it happens) is pointed by the lunar
item you find in the philactery. So you basically use that item to know when it’s the full moon and then cast the spells three times in a row. I would say that’s how is supposed to work, but in my game it didn’t. The third day it would always fail telling me there is no full moon, even if the lunar item would alert me it’s fully moon.

Simply put, the ritual iself is BORING. Not only it didn’t work, but having the player do such a ritual just to simply gain what he is supposed to gain makes me mad, because as a player you have just to focus on the ritual, rather than focusing on playing. What I mean is that to ensure that the ritual works well, you are just going to spam the rest button, so you do not miss the chance to succeed in the ritual itself.

The ritual put should be outright cut and the lich levelling should just happen, without having to do a pointless ritual that fails and forcing the player to rest three times in a row just to cast a damn spell because otherwise he is not levelling in the lich powers.

    - Now what’s left. Ah, the spell disguise and hide true nature do not work well. You always have constantly a bounty of 8000. They simply do not work and you are constantly hunted. That’s a BUG, if you haven’t realized yet.

    - Now time to talk about the lair. You use the item and have a cavern entrance put in front of you. To make it you need human followers. How to get followers? You first have to reveal your true appearance to npcs, then ask them to recruit followers. The recruit followers part is BUGGED. You ask the npcs, but they forget you’ve asked. So, you have to do and redo it, hoping they got the “recruit followers” through, and in all of this. Then you wait 7 days, hoping that when you talk back to npcs they:
    - still remember you’ve asked that they should recruit you a follower (9 out of 10 they will outright forget)
    - have succeeded finding a followers (0.9 out of ten they simply fail).
I was able to do the procedure by revealing myself to the whole Balmora mages guild and trying to reap followers from the 6-7 different npcs there. In 100 days of waiting, I was able to get 7.
Ah, I forgot to say that you have to hope you are lucky, because sometimes, when the npc tells you the follower has arrived, it simply WON’T APPEAR. Another BUG for your enjoyment!

    - Now that you have recruited the followers, you give them a mission. And that mission is to build your lair. Ready for another BUG? You are supposed to task your followers to build certain areas of your lair. The problem is that after
you task the first follower to build a certain area of the lair, you are supposed to task the other followers too. Too bad all the followers occupy the
same spot and you are not able to task all of them, making the whole ordeal even longer (the building time of the lair is dependant on the number of followers you’ve asked to build the areas of the lair). In the lair you also discover that you are suppoosed to cast Mystic enchant on the crown (simply read the point above)

In the end you can ask them to pray you and you gain a list of spells. Not that good, and I didn’t care.

    - There are also a lot of text errors (missing dots, etc)

Now as of the lich experience.
    - If you get attacked even once you lose your disguise, so it’s very dangerous to go around concealed.
    - the spells being all spread in your spellbook makes you scroll fanatically around trying to catch the spell you wish to cast.
    - Dialogue options concerning the lich experience should be on top and some menu must be merged (mission/orders for followers)

TL;DR: In the end, my suggestion is to play Illuminated order lich (I playedwith it and it’s fine and works well) or Necrocraft.
Illuminated order if you wish for a vanilla experience, Necrocraft if you wish something more “revolutionizing”.

    Cheers

Appears to be an issue where if a gaurd initiates dialogue with you when your in Lich form you get stuck in a never-ending dialogue loop that you cannot escape, you either need to restart the game or hope the guard who started the dialogue is in your line of sight so you can use the console to kill them, I am using OpenMW so am unsure if that is part of the issue.

This was mentioned before here: https://forum.nexusmods.com/index.php?showtopic=1276786/#entry56903806 in his second paragraph. The disguise check was fixed
But I've personally not seen this issue. Guards trying to initial dialogue is something they don't even like doing for me tbh unless I'm hanging out next to them for a bit which I need to look into. I'll need to try to see if it's something that is more likely to happen in OpenMW and see what I can do.

Is this something that happens every time they open the dialogue or is it only sometimes?

I've opened an issue to keep track of it as well:

This problem happens every single time, as what was stated in that post you linked seems to be the exact same issue I am having.

Alright, I can confirm that this is something that only happens in OpenMW and I should be able to fix it by just uncommenting the lines that force combat after those dialogues. The previous person to have this issue was also using OpenMW as mentioned here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1276786-lichcraft-2/page-10#entry56766471

      Detailed Explanation below:

Fun thing about this is that it doesn't happen at all in OG Morrowind from my testing due to some guard behavior differences around bounties. In Morrowind guards will chase you to initiate the crime dialogue and give you your choices. Something that's interesting though is that there seems to be some type of grace period that activates once dialogue has happened with a guard. By this I mean that guards will not chase you for your bounty to activate the dialogue after it has already happened once. I'm unsure if this has a timer attached to it or if it's permanent until you commit a new crime.

Now it seems to affect any dialogue at all which explains why Guards don't really chase down my character as a Lich in my testing. I turn into a Lich. Walk through the census doors which causes Sellus Gravius to instantly try to talk to me over the bounty as he is classified as a Guard. Clicking Goodbye in his dialogue counts as the dialogue interaction. So one I leave the census the other guards are no longer interested in pursuing me unless a new crime is committed.

What's interesting is that OpenMW removes this behavior. If you resist arrest to a guard and then force the guard to stop combat using console commands they will try to arrest you again right away activating the arrest dialogue. This actually ended up causing the same issue were discussing in the base game with Command Humanoid here: https://gitlab.com/OpenMW/openmw/-/issues/3863.

Before it was fixed casting Command Humanoid on a Guard after resisting arrest would cause the guard to try to arrest you again since combat was stopped from the spell. While the spell is activated this would loop endlessly. The same behavior that we see with Lichcraft.

This should be fixed by having the dialogues force combat at the end of them which prevents the arrest dialogue from being opened again in OpenMW. Plus they should be set like that anyway since it becomes really strange when a Guard says he'll kill you and then just doesn't do anything lol.

An issue still remains with OG Morrowind though where once a group of guards aggro; You will no longer be chased by any other guard unless you walk next to them which might trigger their dialogue. As of now I don't know how fixable that is though without MWSE lua as it's looking to be a base AI script. OpenMW should work fine once the dialogue forces combat.

I just see endless bug reports here. Is this mod actually fun to play, or just endless problems?
