There's at least one crystal egg that is missing an inventory icon. I haven't found a lot of them yet, maybe 10 or so at the time of writing this, but Deep Rainbow's Glory is one such egg that is missing its inventory icon. None of the others that I've found have had this issue.
Would it ever be possible to make a version of this mod with placeable display cases? (in the fashion of the mannequin/furniture mods, where these can be placed and picked up via inventory)
Actually, thanks to mods like Perfect Placement and the Precision Placement option through Morrowind Crafting, the display cases on this mod are already obsolete. With either PP mod, you can just place the eggs where you want and have them perfectly lined up now. You have to keep in mind that I made these display cases back before Lua was even a thing. There was no Perfect Placement or Precision Placement back then. So, if you wanted to, you could play the mod without using the display cases. This is actually covered in the Read Me, as well. It's pretty easy to get rid of the scripts involved in the display and that would probably be easier than figuring out how to make placeable display cases.
I still use the display cases myself since I use a house mod that has it installed already, but in future houses, I will probably set up shelving for them, but not use the display cases themselves. With Precision Placement, you can have lovely displays without all the scripts.

I love those eggs but they clutter up my houses and I'm always fiddling with the housing in the CS anyways.
