If anyone is considering this mod, make sure you read the ReadMe very carefully. When all five ESPs are combined, the mod does *almost* everything Josephort promised. That said, the most important promise -- "the base mod simply modifies a few GMSTs to remove the medium armor category from the game" -- is impossible, simply because that can't be accomplished through GMSTs alone. Instead, Medium Armor is demoted to a miscellaneous skill for all classes.
We need a modern alterative to this. Morrowind armour progression is broken, I tried an amour overall balance overall mod that was heavily moderated and upvoted but it immediately broke the game economy literally from the imperial warehouse loot alone. There are a few mods adding a couple of medium armours but honestly the best way to solve this issue is probably to do what bethesda did with future games. Remove the stat and divide the amours off into light or heavy, it would make the progression for both those skills more fun anyway. I expect that removing a hard coded skill from the game is difficult or impossible though.
I find myself having the same experience as others in the comments below. This mod doesn't appear to...do...much of anything as far as eliminating the status of medium armor.
Still saw medium armor as a skill I could choose at chargen. I still see people offering to train in medium armor as a skill. I still see armor that is labeled "medium armor" in the game.
I'll see if shoving it to the absolute bottom of my load order fixes this, but for now, I can't endorse a mod that doesn't seem to work.
There's nothing wrong with having more choices, and a lot wrong with NOT having them. I'll keep the game the way it is, though of course I'm sure some people will like the simplification this mod brings.
I can't get it to work. People still give training in medium the skills say medium and bonemold armor is still medium. What other mods can this conflict with? I only use patch for purists, the plugins from tes3 and just some texture mods that don't interfene
I really wanted to wear the Royal Guard Armor and I was so bummed to find out that Royal Guard Armor was considered a "Medium Armor" instead of Heavy (which is what I specialized in). Thank you so much for this mod!!
"users must learn to dodge and deflect blows" It has nothing to do with armour. If anything, light armour shouldn't be the a thing, since it doesn't restrict you in any way (or just a little), so you don't have to learn how to move, fight etc. effectively, while being restricted in some way.
Mmh. Honestly, instead of removing medium armor from Morrowind, I think they should have left it in Oblivion and Skyrim. Maybe it doesn't make as much sense to you, but to make optimal use of any armor, you should know how to move in it, and that changes based on even slight differences in weight. Besides, Medium armor is a good balance between weight and protection. It is actually a middle option for those who need solid defense but can't or don't want to carry as much weight in armor. I'm more interested in making Wraithguard medium than in making Medium armor light or heavy.

This is the kind of thinking that made the devs dump spears. Also, Bonemold is perfectly servicable to the endgame.
Shame, I rather liked the idea.
