I am not one to look a gift horse in them mouth, but... the models are redone abysmally. As a game dev student who also makes 3d models for his mini-games in unity, i can say that the models are redone in the worst of possible ways. This doesn't need a optimization pass, this requires a full remodeling. From the looks of it you added a few modifications then used turbo smooth on them like there was no tomorrow. And even so, the difference between some models and the originals is minimal. It was enough to use mesh smooth in 3ds max to get better results.Did the guy who made them ever do GAME models? In a game model you make the edges high poly and leas the rest as low rez as possible. I would remake them myself but i am a total noob with nifskope and skywind is coming soon so i do not really see any point in it.In any case, nice try ,but i do not recommend anyone to use this mod without a quantum computer.
I have to agree, these are far from an improvement, but made in the worst possible way. They have waaaayyy too many polygons, their uv maps are completely broken, and some of them are not even really more detailed than the originals. Better use Better Morrowind Armors by Moranar. And for the parts that are not covered by Moranar's mod I have begun making improved versions of them which can be found here until I'm done with all of them and release them officially: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1496399-wipzrelz-improved-meshes-weapons-armor-parts/
My meshes have less then 10% of their counterparts from this mod and are at least as detailed, as you can see here: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mXLvwfVcXxY/U6dK03BYQRI/AAAAAAAABhE/kFVAkXELQ2k/s0/comparison.gif
User from the future with said Quantum Computer checking in, I'm so glad this mod exists because when I max at everything at 4k the armor really looks amazing, and am so glad it just makes the vanilla amors HD instead of trying to change the way they look
For people that want something similar to this but without an unnecessary amount of polygons/broken UVs, I recommend using this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/48757
the only one i like is the templar and i like it alot havn't tested indoril or fur yet but my hopes are somewhat high if i could make a recommendation it seems the armor is darker though you said it only affected the meshes maybe make the templar slightly more gold...like the helmet? or not? i dunno whatever in any case a pretty cool mod i guess
eh the fur and indoril kinda suck no offense...their is like a line in the furs back that looks like a scar and the indoril the gloves are like bright piss yellow while the rest of the armor is like a dark gold and the neck is yellow its just wierd
Was in the middle of downloading these when I noticed cire992's comment. Checked the meshes in nifskope and they do indeed have a massive amount of unnecessary detail. These armors definitely need an optimization pass to cut down on the polys.
Edit: Actually, I figured out what was causing so much lag in my game. The poly counts on these models are absolutely insane. The chitin cuirass (just the cuirass, not the whole set) has over 50,000 faces in it. Most hero-quality character models in games TODAY will not exceed 20,000 polys. Most large cells in Morrowind will barely top 70,000 polys, including all characters and items in it. One chitin cuirass from this mod on one buoyant armiger in ghostgate's temple of dawn will practically double the amount of geometry in the cell. There are 3 buoyant armigers in the temple of dawn, each with a chitin cuirass and a full chitin armor set to go with it.
In all, for the cost on performance for not optimizing these meshes and generally not modeling properly, the amount of detail added is almost negligible. In fact, if I hadn't noticed the massive drop in frame rate and then gone and looked in nifskope, I would never have noticed how many polys are in these models, since the geometry doesn't actually add details.

Use unsubsurf on your models, you poly-maniac, and repair UV-mapping on indoril helmet.

2: yeah, no esp's!
if anyone is interested in how to turn this into a espless replacer
1. add "a_" to the start of every filename except ones that start with "shield" or "tower"
2. copy these files into the meshes root folder
