Hello, it worked for me! If you are using modOrganizer 2 with openMW, when you install this mod it is not packed correctly like everyone here is saying. To get it to work, right-click where it says '<data files>', then 'Create a directory'. Type in 'Textures' and you will have made a textures folder. Lastly, just drag 'magicitem' into 'Textures' and it will be configured correctly so you can click 'Ok'.
Thank you for this! Installed for OpenMW, works great but the file path is tricky! had to make a "Textures" folder in the "magicitem" folder to get it to work!
I made an updated version which has the exact same files as the original, but as the other users stated below, updated them to be more recent than the newer releases of Morrowind. Everything else is unchanged.
PSA, Check old mods like this for the file structure. Simply moving the magicitem folder into a folder called textures will allow you to use Vortex to install/uninstall this.
I'm using the Dread Knight armor mod and for some reason the helmet is displaying the glow once I enchant it. I'm trying to figure out if the problem is that this mod missed a texture, or the dread knight armor's helm is looking for a different texture.
The problem with this mod is, that the game will always try to load the newest version of any asset. Since the GOG and Steam releases are packed with a newer date than this mod, it will always load the vanilla 'plastic wrap' textures.
If you don't want to mess with the date on Morrowind's BSA file, simply open every single file that comes with this mod, change something with a picture editor of your choice (I suggest paint.net with a dds plugin), save, undo the change, save again. This will leave the mod files with a newer date than the original files and you can keep using them.
Found a fix to the mod not working, it doesn't matter (so far as I know) whether you manual install or manager install, but I'd do it manually to be sure..
You need to re-date Morrowind's BSA's to their original 2002 Date.
This can be done with a 'Attribute Changer', I don't know if you can post links, so I wont bother, but you can find them on google easily enough.
Then just 'Change Attributes' of the 'BSA' Files - Morrowind, *Bloodmoon, *Tribunal (* Only applicable if you have these expansions), once you've got the file properties up, go to the 'Created', 'Modified' and 'Accessed' dates and set the YEAR to 2002, the other dates don't matter (as far as I know).
This will let the Game use updated textures from mods.
Exactly what gets it to work! I downloaded the Morrowind Code Patch, and now the textures work like a charm. Just remember to place the "magicitem" folder in your Textures folder.
