Bank Mod by Indestructible ([email protected])
v2.4 by Kir ([email protected]) & Havokk ([email protected])
(original author's permission granted)

This version of the Bank mod (original Readme below) uses NPC dialog interface instead of messageboxes. Thus a single clerk can perform all operations and no big staff is needed. Originally I started this upgrade after reading the forum thread where someone mentioned that the bank staff is too big for some cities. In fact, existing banks are more or less of adequate size (and, quoting Indestructible, "I liked the atmosphere of multiple employees in the bank, so I didn't bother"). Nevertheless, if someone will decide to add banks to smaller cities, this is the way to make them low-staff. In the current version, all original clerks are present, but they are no more specialized in their functions. You can talk to whoever of them and get the same dialog.

You can take a "letter of credit" in the bank. Invoking it adds 10,000, 20,000, 50,000, or 100,000 gold to your inventory - useful for those who use money weight fix. (warning: the letter costs 101% of it's value, so to take 10,000 gold letter you must have on your account no less than 10,100 gold)

Minor changes:

Loan Sharks are now regular members of Thieves Guild, so killing them gets you expelled.

Loan Sharks' interest is not one-time 25%, but 2.5% per day, so if you pay the same day that you took the loan, you pay the same sum you'd taken; in 10 days you pay the same sum as in the original version of the mod. If you miss the payment date, your debt continues to raise 10% per day instead of 2.5%.

If you talk to Loan Shark after missing the payment date, and then fail or refuse to pay the whole sum in the dialog, he summons a 35 level Collector.

Teleport rings aren't actually wearable when activated, so you don't have to worry if you already wear two rings.

Warning: Do not use Goldweight I've been including in the archive previously. It's bugged.

History
=======
17/11/2005: repackaged - GoldWeight removed; no changes in main esp's. Versions uploaded at MWSource and Elric's still have it, though.

Changes to 2.4a: Bugfix - doors closing at night weren't added to NoHouses version; performance increased

Changes to 2.4:

1. Banks now work from 8am to 6pm. If you try to stay indside after time, bankers refuse to service you, guards become unfriendly and eventually arrest you. To disable this feature, type in console "set Bank_Nighttime to -1" (preferably at day).

2. Bank in Vos firmly placed on the ground.

3. By demand, two additional versions of the mod are included: a) without houses and b) combined with Walled City (in the latter, North Wall Villa in Balmora is of WC-variety rather than original)

4. A rare bug in Loan Collectors' script is fixed.

(5. Coin textures for Goldweight plugin are replaced with Frostbyte's version - best one to date.) - obsolete

6. More smooth looking "account information" topic.

7. Extra "NNN Gold added to your inventory" messages are suppressed (to some extent - values above 30,000 gold still have to be splitted).

8. Gold/paper sounds added to bank operations dialog

9. Troubleshooting tips regarding GoldWeight added to this readme - apparently some people had problems with it.

10. Hlaalu and Telvanni Guards in banks affiliated to the Temple - Ordinators have *very* guard-fitting soundset. Since you can't talk to bank guards, this should have no other consequences.

11. Killing a bank guard makes all bank personnel over Vvardenfell deny you service. No money back either.

Changes to 2.3 (made in cooperation with Havokk):

1. All bank/house interiors reworked by Havokk.

2. All bank workers reworked by Havokk - by general rule of Bank being an Imperial institution in the first place.

3. Bank worker differentiation is back. Now there are simple clerks (lower clearance - can withdraw or deposit money, accept loan payments, and give account information), real estate agents (higher clearance - can sell and buy houses), bank managers (top clearance - can issue letters of credit and give loans).

4. Bank statement is no longer "magic" - it shows account data for the day it was issued and not auto-updates every day. To get the newer version you must take it in the bank. Realism prevails, folks :p .

5. Letters of credit can be cashed two different ways - see below for details.

6. Bank refuses to serve you if your PCCrimeLevel > 200 (unless you have unpaid loan - they're interested in getting their money back in the first place).

7. You can't withdraw money or buy houses if you have unpaid loan and miss payment date.

8. Bank in Vivec repositioned into Foreign Quarter Waistworks (done by Havokk)

9. Bank in Sadrith Mora moved closer to Dirty Muriel's Cornerclub (done by Havokk)

10. Path grids in Balmora, Caldera, Sadrith Mora corrected according to banks/houses placement (done by Havokk)

11. Added Balor's PCJail check script - bank loan penalty doesn't raise and loan Collectors aren't sent while PC is in jail.

12. More variety of Loan Collectors (done by Havokk). Their strength now is more based on their stats, powers and (sometimes) bound weapons than physical weapons/armors, so they don't have to disappear after death.

13. If you decide to kill Loan Collector after paying your debt, you can have your money back, but your debt will not be erased.

(14. Added optional GoldWeight.esp combined with AltGoldGold textures - these plugs won't work together originally. If you don't want it, don't unpack Textures, Meshes and Icons folders.) - obsolete

15. Various minor cosmetic improvements.

This version is compiled on Morrowind 1.2 and should be compatible with Tribunal 1.4 and Bloodmood 1.6 (Walled City-compatible version requires Tribunal, as the original WC. Since it uses statue meshes from Tribunal, I decided not to remove this dependency). Compatibility with previous version saves was not tested, so temporary uninstall is recommended (as per original Readme).

Warning: The version 2.4a is the last one that was released and will be supported by me. The so-called "2.4b" that adds extra membership levels is someone else's work. The person never contacted me, the proposed change is not something I'd approve, and the zip doesn't contain all three versions nor additional data files. I'm not responsible for any trouble that people may have with this version.

Note from the Author:

Hi Everyone,

This will be the last release of Bank i'll be making..but never fear, others have permission to continue my work if they wish. =)

I'd like to thank everyone in the Morrowind community that helped me out over all the releases. Your help was invaluable.

I'd also like to thank everyone that uses, promotes and has hosted the Bank plug-in. Your support has made it exceed all expectations I had for its popularity.

- Indestructible

P.S: I'm not out of the Morrowind scene yet. I'll be making a release of Armorer 2.0(with the ever requested Weapon Smithing) soon. The Tribunal only version will be released first, with a Morrowind 1.2 compatible release coming later.

Compatability Disclaimer:

Bank 2.1 has been built with Morrowind: Tribunal v1.3.1029. It has been tested and found to be compatible with Morrowind v1.2 as well as Tribuanl v1.3.

I don't guarantee compatability with any other version.

Bank 2.1 is now compatible with any available mod. There will be no more Main script conflicts. Special Thx to jDooby for testing Bank 2.1 and helping to get it working with Morrowind v1.2.

Bank 2.1 may not be compatible with saves from previous versions of Bank. I suggest you follow these steps to clean your save.

1. Start Morrowind and load your save using your current version of Bank. Withdraw all your money from the bank. Save your game and quit Morrowind.
2. Remove indybank.esp from the data files menu.
3. Start Morrowind and load your save. You will encounter errors, skip through all of them until the game loads. Then save a new game(don't overwrite your old one just in case) and quit Morrowind
4. Install Bank 2.1 and check it off in the data files menu.
5. Load up your clean save and re-deposit all your money!

Changes from Beta 2.0

1. Tweaked down Interest Rates again. These are final. See Number 4 in the Description for Interest Rates.
2. Fixed "Stuck at 1.2 million bug" you will now properly gain interest after you hit 1.2 million and higher.
3. Added portable bank statement! Ask the Bank Manager to issue you a statement. You can read it from your inventory like a scroll or book. It will update itself automatically every day and give you all the information you need about your Bank Account and Loans.
4. Tweaked Loan Shark System:
a. When Thieves Guild Collectors are killed their corpse now disappears. Prevents the repeated selling of their phat loot.
b. Instead of paying off your debt you can now kill the Loan Shark to erase your debt!! But remember, you can't taunt loan sharks into a fight and it will be a crime to murder them in front of others.
c. Due to the fact that you can now kill Loan Sharks to erase your debt, they have been beefed up in terms of skill and equipment.
d. Loan Sharks disappear when killed. Prevents the selling of their phat loot.
e. Once you kill a Loan Shark the others will no longer deal with you. I wouldn't recommend speaking to another loan shark after you have killed one of their partners. =)
f. Added new Loan Shark to the Ald'ruhn thieves guild.
5. Fixed terrain mess around the Vos Bank.

Thx to all those who emailed suggestions. I hope I added at least a few of the features you all asked for. =)

Mod Description:

This is the final(Indestructible) release of the banking mod that allows you deposit money, earn interest, withdraw money, get loans, store items in a safety deposit box(for a fee) and purchase homes. Here's how it works:

1. First of all you need to find a bank. In Beta 2.1 there are 5 banks in Vvardenfell, located in Vivec, Balmora, Gnisis, Vos, and Sadrith Mora.

2. To deposit money talk to the deposit manager. You can deposit set amounts or just deposit your entire gold supply. I was forced to use some funky loop code for the "deposit all" feature and it may cause a 1 to 5 second pause depending on your CPU speed and the amount of money you are depositing.

3. To withdraw money talk to the withdraw manager. You can withdraw set amounts or your entire account. As with depositing, the "withdraw all" feature can cause a pause.

4. Money deposited in your account earns daily interest, the bank also charges a daily service charge. The banking system has membership plans which are explained below:

Membership Level 0 (0 to 5000 gold): Interest Rate: 0.004 Service Charge Rate: 0.001 Loan Interest Rate: 0.01
Membership Level 1:(5000 to 10000 gold): Interest Rate: 0.007 Service Charge Rate:0.003 Loan Interest Rate: 0.009
Membership Level 2:(10000 to 50000 gold): Interest Rate: 0.015 Service Charge Rate:0.005 Loan Interest Rate: 0.007
Membership Level 3:(50000+ gold):Interest Rate: 0.02 Service Charge Rate:0.007 Loan Interest Rate: 0.005
Membership Level 4:(100000+ gold):Interest Rate: 0.025 Service Charge Rate:0.009 Loan Interest Rate: 0.003

Note: Your membership level is determined by (Money in the Bank - Bank Loans). You cannot use loans to boost your membership rating.

5. To check your membership level, total interest earned, total service charges, etc. Talk to the Bank Manager. The bank manager also has information about your loan payments and principle remaining. The bank manager also gives you the ability to pay off the rest of your loan at anytime. You can request a written statement from any bank manager. This allows you to check you account on the road.

6. Safety Deposit boxes allow you to store your items safety at the bank. There is a 10 gold charge everytime you access the box. Each box can store up to 950, each bank will have up to 3 boxes for you to use.

7. To purchase or sell a house talk to the Housing Manager. They will give a list of houses to purchase or sell and the asking price. You don't need the have the money on you. It will be debited from your bank account if enough is in there, if not you will automatically pay in cash. When you purchase a house you will be given the deed and a teleportation ring that will take you instantly to your new home(to teleport just equip the ring, you must take the ring off and re-equip to teleport again). You MUST have the deed in your inventory at all times or you will not be able to enter your house. When you sell a house you must return the deed AND the teleportation ring. So make sure you don't sell the ring or anything. House purchasing and selling uses the same code as the "Deposit and Withdraw All" functions, so there may be anywhere from a 1 to 10 second pause when you buy a house. You may own more than one house. The more expensive homes come will personal mages or personal merchants:

North Wall Manor(Balmora): Personal Mage (Provides Travel, Spellmaking, Enchanting, Bartering(2500 gold)
Noble Manor(Sadrith Mora): Personal Trainer (Grandmaster training in Medium Armor, Armorer, Illusion, Bartering(9000 gold)
Coastal Tower(Dagon Fel): Personal Mage (Provides Spellmaking, Enchanting, Bartering(4500 gold) also sells unique alchemy equipment not found anywhere else in the game!)
Merchant Manor(Pelagiad): Personal Trader (Bartering(12000 gold), Repair)
Waterside Manor(Suran): Check out the roof and see. =)

8. To take a loan from the Bank you must talk to the loans officer, there is one available in every bank. You can only take a loan of set amounts of 5000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000. The amounts you can get are determined by your membership level. After you take a loan there is a one week grace period before have to start making payments. Payments are taken directly from your bank account once per day after the week grace period is expired. If your bank account does not have enough money to make the payment, the bank will put a price on your head equal to the payment you owe. If you want to pay off your loan at any time talk to the bank manager.

9. If you want quick cash and don't want to deal with a bank loan, you can talk to loan sharks who hang out in the Thieves Guild halls like the South Wall Cornerclub(Balmora) and Dirty Muriels Cornerclub(Sadrith Mora). Loan Sharks offer cash no questions asked, but they charge high interest(25% on total amount) and expect to be paid back fully within 10 days of taking the loan. If you don't pay them back within the 10 days, they will send out "collectors", these collectors are trained killers who prefer to take everything you own from your dead body, rather than presuade you to pay back to money you owe. Loan sharks will only offer up to 15,000 at any one time. The "collectors" sent after you will be vary depending on your level. Collectors will keep coming after you daily until you pay off the loan. If you can't or are not willing to pay off the debt, you can kill the Loan Shark. If you kill the Loan Shark your debt is erased and the collectors stop coming...but word will spread and other Loan Sharks won't deal with you...they will most likely attack you.

If you encounter any bugs don't hesitate to email me at [email protected].
