I don't recommend removing any of the DLL files. Instead use the in-game mods menu to disable the things you don't want. Read the description tab for more information as to the exact effects of each tweak.

If you have any questions or bugs to report, make a new issue on github:
    https://github.com/garfieldbanks/MonsterSanctuaryMods/issues

Requires Relics of Chaos update. Incompatible with older versions of the game.

Are you using other mods/tweaks/DLLs from other sources than mine? Which tweaks do you have enabled? Try disabling them one by one until you find the one that is causing you the issue.

That one has most of the tweaks in it. Try disabling them one by one in the mod menu in game. It would be good to know exactly which combination of tweaks you have enabled which caused this to happen.

      BepInEx 5.4.21.

There is an in-game mods menu that you need to go into while playing the game. Within that interface you can disable everything. Then re-enable one by one until you find whatever is causing the issue for your particular case.

You could diagnose it yourself by disabling everything via the in-game mod menu and then one-by-one re-enabling each mod you actually want to use until you find the one that causes the issue you are describing.

Using both the GBLR and GBRR together might cause issues. I haven't had anyone that I know of test the game in languages other than English, so that might be an issue. And there could also be some other combination of values of tweaks that causes issues. Zip the contents of your BepInEx/config folder and upload it to github as a new issue.

I'm not the greatest at adding mods manually. Can I get a more in depth explanation on where to put the files please?

If you scroll down to the conversation I had with Grimster88 below, you'll see a more in-depth explanation of how to install. If you have any more questions after reading that let me know.

I got the mods to work but some enemies are showing up as the wrong level. I deleted the levelcap.dll and it's still changing. All I have in the folder is the mytweaks.dll and it changes all the monsters levels to 42 except the starting area.

I wouldn't recommend deleting the DLLs unless you want to completely uninstall. Better to keep all the DLLs and just disable everything in the in-game mods menu. Then re-enable only the tweaks you want.

Have you found and used the in-game mods menu? Once you've done the above and used this menu, it sounds like you'll need to find the [GBLC] options and set the caps for both enemies and player down to the lowest level you'd like, load a new area, then change the caps back to 42 or whatever you'd like, then go to a new area. This should reset all the levels to whatever you chose in the first step.

Mod is working pretty well, didn't have any trouble with it, however i keep having issues with the levels of enemies?  For example my Vallalar fight (first alchemist in the stronghold dungeon) is at level 33, not the ~12-15 he is supposed to be?

Probably need to disable [GBLC] Enemy Lvl Match Player Lvl.

My highest monster is at level 23, and that option is disabled.

Well, then, I guess you could enable that setting and then he would simply match your level of 23.

Another thing to try, if you've played around with the other level cap settings at all, might be to set both caps to your current level (23?), then load a new area, then change them back to 42 or whatever max level you wanted and then load a new area.

Great mod, thank you so much for making this!

Minor issue that could be something I'm doing wrong: I can't seem to disable the  Level Cap modifier, so my monsters appear to no longer "over level" to drop Level Badge 42 items. Not a big deal since I can just hatch Max Level Eggs!

Got a few QOL modifier ideas~
1- Teleport Anywhere: "Map" option in the monster Menu opens/lets you Teleport instead of "place marker", like as if you interacted with Teleport Crystal.
Maybe just consuming a Crystal Shard opens the Teleport Crystal map instead of sending you back to base?

2- Colored Icons: I think the only icons in the inventory that got any color are the Light/Dark eggs types. Everything else is just grey and sad. No yellow bananas ):

    3- Thanks again !

I don't entirely understand the problem you're having with the level cap but if you already tried setting level caps to disabled and it didn't fix it,  try setting the level caps to enabled, then set both the monster level options to 42.

Thanks for the other ideas. Next time I play the game I'll see if I can figure those things out. Might be a little while though.

I've downloaded BepinEx, extracted the files and added them to the main Monster Sanctuary game folder. Then I made a folder inside BepinEx called plugins, downloaded and extracted the files for this mod, and placed the newly-extracted file into the plugins folder. But nothing's showing up in my game, nothing is indicating that there's a mod installed at all.

I'm not new to adding mods to various games, so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. But surely I must be. I just can't figure out what. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Your post mentioned you put the "newly-extracted file" into the plugins folder. You'll need at least two. The ModsMenu dll and whatever else you wanted. (They can all be disabled anyway so I would just put them all in).

If the above is not the case, then make sure doorstop_config.ini and winhttp.dll are in the same location as Monster Sanctuary.exe.

If neither of the above is the case, did you get the wrong BepInEx? Did you get BepInEx_x64_5.4.21.0.zip or something else?

I just noticed that the BepInEx on nexus mods is out of date. You'll probably need to get the latest 5.x.xx release on github.

I just checked and I do have the newest version of BepinEx. I just now moved the doorstop_config.ini and the winhttp.dll to the same location as Monster Sanctuary.exe, as they were both in the BepinEx folder still. It's still not working so I'm assuming it has to be because I only have your garfieldbanks.MonsterSanctuary.plugins-8-3-0-4-1684551087 file in the plugins folder. You said I need at least two, and honestly I apologize but I don't know what that means. What else do I need to put into the plugins folder?

Simply moving those files won't work. You need to extract the BepInEx_x64_5.4.21.0.zip so that those files end up in the same location as Monster Sanctuary.exe. Moving only those files will cause them to not be able to find the rest of the BepInEx files.

The structure should be like this:
      Monster Sanctuary:
          doorstop_config.ini
          Monster Sanctuary.exe
          winhttp.dll
          BepInEx:
              core
              plugins:
my folder (the name doesn't matter):
                      garfieldbanks.MonsterSanctuary.ModsMenu.dll
                      garfieldbanks.MonsterSanctuary.CombatSpeed.dll
                      etc...

Oh! I had no idea it would've made any difference. I extracted them to the folder, just as you said, and wouldn't you believe it, it works now! Thank you so so much for being patient with me and walking me through this. It seems every game is just ever so slightly different in terms of how to use their mods. I appreciate your time and look forward to using your mod! <3

    Thank you for this mod!

I have a couple of ideas, if you're interested.

One is just a tweak that disables the monster randomizer for enemy monsters in keeper battles. That way, if players want them to keep their (usually decent, synergistic) teams, we have that option.

Next is an "accelerated mode" for the game. The idea being to reduce grind and spend more time in the interesting levels (20+, IMO) of the playthrough.

    • The game starts with all monsters at level 15.
    • Exp curve has you reaching level 25-30ish by the end of Blue Caves.
    • Curve has you hitting level 35-40ish after another two major areas.
    • Accelerated keeper rank progression that matches the new levelling curve so that you can upgrade your gear accordingly. Or allow the purchase of upgrade materials at earlier keeper ranks, whichever is easier to implement.
    • All monsters and keeper battles scale to your current highest monster level.
    • In keeper battles, enemy monster gear scales up to your level (or keeper rank).

I guess you could accomplish most of this with a combination of exp multipliers and lowering keeper rank requirements, but the issue of scaling monsters and enemy gear remains. (I've done a run with an exp multiplier but it became laughably easy very quickly - I want the progression to be fast but the game to remain challenging)

                 5. All monsters and keeper battles scale to your current highest monster level.
This is already in the [GBLC] Level Caps section as Enemy Lvl Match Player Lvl.

I'll take a look at the code for the other stuff.

I think I have this pretty much covered in version 1.0.6:
      - An experience modifier is available in the mod options menu.
      - A keeper rank modifier is available in the mod options menu.
      - A keeper equipment upgrade modifier is available in the mod options menu. Enemy monsters in keeper battles will have their equipment upgraded once if the player highest monster level is equal to or greater than this option.
      - A keeper equipment full upgrade modifier is available in the mod options menu. Enemy monsters in keeper battles will have their equipment fully upgraded if the player highest monster level is equal to or greater than this option.

      Version 1.0.7:
      - An option to disable randomization of keeper monsters in keeper battles is available in the mod options menu.
I think I've covered everything now. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like for me to add.
