Can you update this to be playable with Iceborne? I wanna give it a try but even with Stack loader, it doesn't work. I really want to experince the Xenos invasion
You should NEVER fire a SOS flare in a custom quest, because if the other people dont have the quest, they will see the original ones. The ones they replace are some from low rank, so if they enter they will see normal stuff instead of xeno, so you will almost surely crash your game or the random sos people ones. In fact, they aren't even in the same maps, so you can imagine the result.
hey i got an idea for a new mod quest: the toxic, the hangry, and the bomber an arena quest with vaal hazak, deviljho and bazel (non temperd) what do you think?
I've always liked fighting xeno for some reason (got 178 xeno tickets without using shop mods), and this mod was a good change of scenery and setting in a long time, so kudos for even making it possible.
However, the last quest made me almost hate xeno with a passion. I managed to clear it first try with 2 carts, but it was very frustrating. Based on the quest objective, you're supposed to kill the mother and the 2 hatchlings, but the sequence in which you should kill them in is not stated, which is a big problem, and I'll be explaining why subsequently.
Being the smartass I was, I thought it would be strategic to kill the hatchlings first in case the mother called them back to help her somehow (it's a modded quest, anything is possible). So I started attacking the hatchlings first, and would soon regret it. When they both took off flying, I wasn't expecting them to fly back to the nest to join their mother. I was like ok I gotta fight 3 xenos at once, but 2 are mini-sized so it should be easy right? Wrong. Not in the slightest.
See, there are many factors that made it a very problematic fight (I'm only referring to the scenario of fighting 3 xenos, cuz I have no idea if killing the mother first will prevent it from happening, but it's reasonable to assume so). 1) Both the mother and hatchlings have modified body sizes, but I believe their explosion ranges are not compensated for it. It's not fun nor immersive when the hatchlings can create explosion sizes a few times their size. It's also not fun when the mother can create explosions where they're not supposed to be when compared to the normal AT xeno (e.g. creating the radial explosions anywhere that's directly under her body; the explosions should be around her instead). 2) The hatchlings deal full damage even with their small sizes. Yes I know it might not be possible to modify the damage data, but it breaks immersion when a tiny ball of energy can take a considerable chunk of your hp away, or if their miniature body slams deal full damage. 3) There's a chance you will get roar-spam carted. This isn't as big an issue for normal monsters, since they don't have xeno's size, but when you're fighting a giant monster, and get caught by another monster's roar while giant is prepping a huge attack, you're pretty much dead. 4) Similar to point 3, it's humanly impossible to keep up with 3 monsters all at once, nor was the game designed to be played that way. I got combo-ed into a stun into a cart when the mother was prepping the body slam explosion, and 1 of the hatchlings was flying around doing the hitscan laser snipe attack while I was locked in foresight slash's animation. Having the hatchlings spam the charge attack and doing full dmg wasn't very fun either, since their small bodies get concealed by the mother. You get my point.
Anyway, the solution is simple, and I would suggest to at least indicate somewhere that you should kill the mother first. Add in a quick quip about getting a challenging fight if you attack the hatchlings first, so at least hardcore players will try it.
It is possible to modify damage as far as am aware (take a look at the cheat quest with the jagras that deals 0 damage has 3 HP) as for the roars: use earplugs not sure about the size of the attacks tho...
Well, yeah, it sounds good, but at least I dont have any plans on doing it, maybe somebody wants to take the request, but I have some other things in mind before even thinking about taking that one.
is it normal that I can't find it after looking for it for 15 minutes in the first quest ??? I'm tired of this please tell me where he is located so I can check out if it's becouse I didn't search good enough or a bug from the mod
I see you are a man of culture as well, this is the link, it's a deviantart pic made by JinxSG: https://www.deviantart.com/jinxsg/art/Xeno-Jiiva-MHW-Render-795897225
Ah, thank you! Now, an honest review: Ancient Forest X'J: Good locations, but there's no reason a Nergi should be there. it should be a rathalos or something. Kushala makes perfect sense, but not Nerg. Wildspire Waste: Again, Good locales, and good monster placements with Teo and Luna, I have no issues. Coral Highlands: The Legiana nest is way to cramped for Xeno. Im not sure where else it could start, but the second area is great, also... TWO My Little Pony Wannabes?! ARE YOU MAD, MAN/WOMAN?! Rotten Vale: I appreciate you putting Vaal and Odo in areas where Xeno would encounter them, but at the same time, Vaal is so out of place it feels wrong. I think the lower Vale with the effluvia would've been Perfect. Elder's Recess: Ok, this is the big one. the Teo's nest is a horrible place for AT Xeno. I was able to beat it no problem by getting it stuck in the cave that leads to the nest. the other two are fine, also, SUCH ADORABLES, but tbh, I feel the main area they convened should've been the falling boulders area where you first find Behemoth. it has a lot more space, and while it doesn't have the environmental lava trap, it doesn't need it since AT Xeno is so hard to begin with.
All in all, it was a lot of fun, and for the most part glitch free, save getting stuck in the cave. I honestly hope you come out with more mods like this, as its fun to have something new after all the repitition.
Thanks a lot for the support, so now an honest response (this will contain spoilers, so for anybody that hasn't completed the storyline just don't read it XD):
Ancient forest: Nergi is actually a monster that eats elders, he goes where elder dragons are, he can't be in the recess because the nest is there and every elder ran away from there, and about his two easiest meals, teo and kushala, lunastra was in the waste with teo, and we all know he cant get teo if luna is nearby, so needing to eat, he's just left with the kushala in the Ancient forest, that's why I put him there. Normally it wouldnt make sense, but it does according to the circumstances.
Wildspire Waste: Yeah, I like this area a lot too, the fight with teo and luna is pretty convincing, teo is the only elder that only attacks when sees something atacking his couple, so I din't make him aggro you in sight to be able to spawn at camp 15 and go for xeno without he complaining, and the second area adds a little of difficulty because of the water physics, but there aren't much water puddles and there are frogs, so it gives oportunities to new ways of fighting it and it felt great in there.
Coral Highlands: I tested Xeno in a couple areas, the only 3 areas that seemed big enough to make him put a fight without being too crowded were area 1, legiana's nest and area 7. Area 1 with the corals in there he just got stuck a lot of times, so I couldnt give him that place, legiana's nest is crowded yeah, but with that area and area 7 as the 2 only options i prefered making the first part of the fight in the top were if you are quick enough you will make it go to area 7 before he gets in critical state, so the dangerous part has a bigger zone. About the kirins, it's a really stupid meme, they actually prefer instead of hitting you, going for xeno if seen, and I made them stay forever in area 7 if they started a fight there. In my case, while testing, in a 12 minute quest they paralyzed xeno 8 times in a row, one of those in the air, I just couldn't stop laughing and left it that way XDDD
Rotten Vale: I tought about putting xeno in the lower vale, but man, that is too crowded. So odo will just attack everything he encounters, and some rare times, he goes to the upper vale, so no problem. The akward part is Vaal, right. Well, in the storyline, the 3rd fleet master says Vaal went to the top of the vale to fight Xeno for the territory. Vaal hasn't got anywhere else to go, and he clearly doesn't want that kind of presence in his domain, that's why Vaal travelled to area 1, in order to fight Xeno to reclaim the vale from him. Yeah, it looses the effluvia, but think of xeno in those tiny corridors, and clipping through the ceiling when flying, it really doesnt seem right.
Elder's recess: I thought on this as a kind of alien vibe nest. So the mother setted her proper nest on teo's place and when the hatchlings are born, they go investigate the recess but never going too far from the mother, so they are kind of protected even tho there is no way they can be harmed there because every elder left. When they grow up, they try and find new places to create their own nests, and thats why Xeno started appearing in all of the other locales. The elder dragons didn't have any other place to go, so they just got nuts and started attacking on sight. Meanwhile, in the nest, the mother gave birth to more hatchlings and these are the 2 you fight. When they get their health lowered, they go to the mother's nest, a hidden recluded place, where they feel protected by the mother, and she gets into critical state instantly and tries to kill you for fighting her hatchlings. So thats why the nest is in there, an arena in a recluded place. The lava trap doesnt even matter, it doesnt proc unless you hit them with fire damage, and Xeno doesnt deal fire damage, so it's just a plain arena for them. About the clipping in the entrance, well, I can't do anything about that, it doesnt matter where I set the mother to be, you will always be able to kill her with a piercing ranged weapon from another area, she just doesn't fit by any corridors, so RIP about that. Just if you want to do it right, just don't exploit that issue, because it will always happen unless its a one zone area. I thought of putting her on kushala's nest because of that, but the pillar in the middle made it a nightmare to fight her there, so I ended up setting her in the teo's place.
So thanks for all the support and stuff, I really apreciate the review. This kind of stuff makes me want to do more stuff like this more ofthen. The other quests on top of the Xeno'Jiiva Invasion ones are another CQs I made, I just wanted to post this one because i found out how to make Xeno work in other places after a lot of time with everybody thinking it was impossible, and i wanted to share it so people could have the experience. But who knows, maybe some day I'll post another one >w<
Read the description of the mod, the quest pack has a story, and that is part of the story, you have to remove the folder "nativePC > stage > st302" in order to remove it. If you haven't read it, I heavily recommend you to do it.
